She passed away a little over a year ago after being diagnosed with cancer days before their wedding. They were not married very long before she passed. I mean am I asking for trouble here ? Is that just a clue to other underlying problems ? How do I breach the subject ? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Don't begrudge the man for holding onto her a little. If I were him I'd never loose that recording. I would even have copies made and put away. Does it mean that he isn't ready to move on? No, however, I wouldn't look to marry this guy just yet. Especially if you are the first person he has dated since loosing her.

If she is deceased, I'm assuming that it's an old message...... if that's the case, I can understand him wanting to save the message.. but not on a working answering machine with a new girlfriend! have him put the tape with her voice in a safe place, and out of your hearing.. If he objects to that... well, if he's legit, he'll not mind... if he minds? just be sure you never leave a message on his answering machine! He MAY be starting a collection! May God bless you... Maybe he just misses her alot and does not want to get rid of the voice in the machine. Its one of the only things he has left of her.

This man is not over his wife yet and you need to run......not walk to the nearest exit. He needs to take time to go through the grieving process completely before he starts a new relationship.
