My mother had a Hysterectomy after I was born because she had cancer. And I was just wanting to know what are my chances of that happening to me?
I am so scared to have that happened to me.

A number of cancers are hereditary. Cervical cancer and breast cancer are known to be extremely hereditary. BUT that does not mean you would get it! But it does increase your risk. So with a family history it is best to make sure you do not miss a yearly exam ever!! It helps a TON to catch problems early! The newer pap smears are awesome at catching things quickly. If it detects even a TINY abnormality of cells it will show on your results and the doctors would then do a Colposcopy to biopsy and exam the abnormal cells. This is the best procedure for catching cancer or precancer cells early! Good luck to you!

being that your mother had cancer, it places you at a higher risk category for the same.... make sure that you religiously get your paps done!! if you do get it you want to know as early as possible......

my mother had pancreatic cancer. I never knew it existed until she got it..... she had surgery, chemo, radiation, and suffered for three years before her body slowly gave out.... she literally starved to death, though she ate all the time....but because of the surgery/cancer she couldnt keep anything down.... and in the end she couldnt even keep water down....

it was very painful for all of us to watch her die that way.... its so sad, but i was relieved to see her pass..... she suffered so much pain...... the last 5 months were agonizing on all of us.... now because she had it, i have to keep myself checked... i surely dont want to go through that..... so I know what you mean about scared.... but your best defense it to keep up on your health....
