If you don't have a doctor, an internist, that you can go to for this advice, I'd say this, generally. The safest way is not the best way, and vice-versa. The safest is probably OTC pills that fill your stomach (Kidney Bean). The best is a good, old American amphetamine or amphetamine-like medicine. Prior to pop belief, these meds are not physically or mentally addicting (more than anything else is). It's only Methamphetamine that will end up killing you. So best AND safest, you really want it all! I'll try. My feeling is to order phentermine or some other typical diet pill over the internet IF YOU CAN'T GET to a DOCTOR first. Benzedrine was legal until the later 1950s: why? PPA (phenylpropranolamine)
still is legal in most states. Europe and America have odd medical differences. E.g., one can buy (limited quantities) codeine (tylenol+codeine) over the counter, but DHEA requires a prescription! Best and safest way to lose weight, to give you yet another answer, is to just eat right, exercise, and drink lots of water. If you're looking for a quick fix. A diuretic (water weight) helps (OTC) and ask doc for diet pill. You've nothing to be ashamed of in doing so. If you're younger than your state's age of adulthood, none of this applies. Good luck. Don't go with fad diets, even Atkins. One never gets rid of entire food groups, as Atkin's does w/carbs.

I have been on the weight rollercoaster since college. The only thing that really worked for me was Weight Watchers. The first time I tried it I lost 35 pounds and looked stunning in my bridesmaids dress in my sister's wedding.

That and exercise. You can't lose a lot of weight fast - that IS NOT healthy. If you are losing 1.5 pounds a week you should be happy. Weight Watchers deals with portions - you can eat what you want but you have to watch your portions.

Good luck!

- And I don't want to starve = you won't have to

- or count calories = you'll have to

- or eliminate chocolate cake! = you won't have to :)

My suggestion is to throw out any diet book you have or are thinking about getting. All you need is 1 scale to measure out your food, and a calorie counting program like crosstrainer (google it) and remember that to lose weight you need to take in (eat) less calories than you are using in your day to day activity.
Try to spread out your calorie intake over 3 hour interevals (maybe 5 to 6 mini meals per day)...it'll speed up your metabolism.

To that, add a little excerise to build up healthy muscle tissue - something that will contribute to weight loss since muscle burns more calories than fat.

"fastest" is not really the most effective way.
you have to eat less calories (not eat less in general) and exercise more -- that burns the calories. for you to lose 1 pound of fat, i think you need to burn 5,000 calories (which you can't do in one day of course). but if you are exercising and consuming big amount of calories, then you are not burning stored calories -- you're either losing the pounds slower or not at all. try to substitute high-calorie food for lower ones. anything with sugar and fat is very high in calories. stop eating desert, and eat more vegetables like broccoli or cauliflower -- they are less in calories but very filling so you don't feel hungry. so remember
1.) diet that is high in fiber and low calories
2.) increase daily activity.

Eat less, and when you eat, spread it out during the whole day. Try not eating carbs during the night. No sodam no coffee, no sugar... A little bit of all will do , but reduce the over all intake.. Wrk out, jog, do push ups and lift weights if you can... Good luck...
