Well, yes, our bodies are most definitely a gift from God. We were made in His image, and that is amazing. But nowadays, we have something called modesty, and I think that it is a good thing. I think that the reason we shouldn't show our bodies in public is because they get mis-used. Some people love pornography too much and that's looking at naked bodies lustfully. The Greeks believed that the human body is beautiful, and it is, but it is mostly for us to save for our spouses or the mirror when we're alone. We can thank God for making us so wonderfully, but we shouldn't parade around, showing it off.
Candy--that's a good point! You're exactly right. Adam and Eve realized they were naked because they had sinned, and that's the reason that we feel so self-conscious about nakedness today.
And Trashley--that was really wrong. I'm a Christian, and I'm not a hypocrite. Maybe some Christians are, but you can't make a generalization like that. It's called the fallacy of composition. So please try and realize that there ARE people out there who are Christians and are NOT hypocrites, and maybe you should even consider that what Christians believe might even be right.

In our society, the effect of revealing your body in public is dangerous for women and offensive to women. Men gain a better understanding of these effects as they mature. In fact the most dangerous animal on the planet is a male human between the ages of 16 and 28. Since we are so visually driven sexually this is a societal problem for women. As a father, a brother, and a moral Christian, I recognize the ill of dropping standards of behavior and dress. The more acceptable we allow rude behavior, less covering, evil aggression, the more violent a society we create. God has instructed us to cover up since the fall of Adam and Eve not just because we feel naked, but because we now live in a fallen society and there are inherent dangers that are only magnified by visual encouragement to partake of someone's sexuality. In a perfect world, we would not feel shame, or lose control of our desires over nudity, but we do not live in a perfect world.

Sorry, but I am not too keen on seeing some guy's dong haning out or guys in Speedos or ultra fat people in spandex (including me, I wear very baggy clothes. I would never submit anyone to the horror of seeing my grotesque body naked). If you want to run around naked go to the nude beach. Personally I don't to be bending over to get a hammer at Home Depot and then turn around and have some guys hairy a*s in my face. I am not appalled at nudity, but I think there's a time and a place for it. I like being naked, I just don't think other people should be forced to see me that way.

It's not a matter of fear, but modesty. They are a gift from God, but not a gift for everyone to enjoy indiscriminately. Just as I believe sex is beautiful and natural in marriage, so is nudity.
There is also the matter or children. They shouldn't be exposed to nudity or near-nudity in public. That's not just my Biblical training, but my child advocacy training talking.

ok, well at first everyone was supposed to be naked all the time and no one would care about it, but then Adam and Eve commited the fall and they realized that they were naked and they were ashamed to show their bodies. Go was very upset wiith them but he couldn't do anything about it. so for the rest of eternity man has seen showing to much of your body as a bad thing. it really isn't but the way the world sees being naked nowadays is bad so we can't help but cover our bodies!
I hope I helped! :)

Good question. In a perfect world, it would not be an issue. In the real world, people struggle with lust. There's pressure on both men and women to control their thought life and there's also pressure to be modest (or not, depending on the person). It's just one of those things we have to deal with because the world is not perfect.

They're a SACRED gift from God. A sacred gift must be protected, loved, and cared for. I think our full body is meant only to be seen by the one and only other person who can truly appreciate it and what's inside.

Your body is a gift from God....but that doesn't mean you can go showing it to everyone in the street. It means you should treat it w/ respect (like no smoking, tatoos, etc.) and the only person you should ever show it to is you wife/husband. (or future wife/ future husband)

Well I think i can answer that for you.... Some people are used to being a certain size for so long that when their bodies start changing it does't look good any more they have a funny feeling about themselves now.

You should know by now that all Christians are uptight hipocrites. Nothing they say makes sense, it's always a contradiction. There is no right answer for anything regarding god or religion in general...
So who knows?
