first of all I HEART coffee and am a self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur...

a latte is an equal amount of espresso and steamed milk (no froth). With the froth, would make it a cappuccino.

a mocha latte is a latte but with a shot or two of a chocolate syrup. a mocha cappuccino is a cappuccino with a shot or two of chocolate syrup.

as you can see, mocha is just an added flavor to an espresso/coffee beverage

The difference between a cappuccino and latte are simple: both have espresso and milk, but the milk content is what makes the difference. The latte has more, and has a creamier taste. The cappuccino has less milk, and a stiff head of foam, whereas the latte has a short head of foam. All a mocha brings is the addition of chocolate (usually syrup). A macchiato is espresso with a little steamed milk on the top. Espresso is a drink that is brewed by forcing hot water into very finely ground coffee. The name came from the method of brewing ('express') and because of the coffee grounds under pressure. A frappe is made from ice cream, milk and flavored syrup, usually. It may also contain coffee or coffee flavoring.

A Cappuccino and a latte have different milk/coffee ratios. A mocha has chocolate mixed into the milk before it is steamed and has the coffee put into it.

Mocha really is a coffee variety from Arabia from the port of Mokka.

Now, however in common parlance, Mocha really means "mixed with chocolate" and a mocha latte is coffee, milk and chocolate syrup.

Latte comes from the Italian word for "milk" and is coffee with steamed milk. It is distinguished from Cappucchio by the fact it has no foam. A Cappuccino has steamed milk and is capped with the foam of frothed, steamed milk. It got its name from the brown habits of Cappucin monks, who wear coffee colored robes with hoods.

How to make:

Mocha: mix a shot of chocolate syrup in your cappucino or latte, made as below--

Latte: make one or two shots of espresso. At the same time, steam milk to about 180 degrees F, making sure you don't foam it. Pour the coffee in a mug and top with steamed milk. A dusting of cocoa, nutmeg or cinnamon is a nice touch.

Cappucino: make 2 espresso shots or just one, and foam milk with the steam nozzle of the espresso maker. Using lower fat milk gives more heady foam. Pour milk into mug, pour espresso down the center and spoon foam on top. Note: if you dust nutmeg on the foam, it will collapse as the oils from nutmeg break the bubbles. Cinnamon or cocoa work well.

i can tell you that the latte is a very american thing...in italy people drink cappucino or espresso, which are very small, very concentrated "shots" of the beverage.
coffee itself is this concentrate but with more water added, and it is also somewhat common in europe, and especially here in the usa.
a true mocha actually doesn't have any chocolate in it- it is actually an arabic coffee that resembles chocolate in taste and texture.
don't believe me? watch a good barista make a mocha. no chocolate gets added, because the taste is in the type of espresso they use.

well i hope this helps!

:) peace out

The difference I think is in the milk content. Latte's have a great deal of milk. Mocha's have a bit of chocolate syrup in them and Capps have milk froth on the top.
They all taste good though. YUMMMY!!!
