Invite her somewhere but not by asking directly if she wants to be with you. Ask it indirectly, like "I'm going to this place... would you like to join me? I'll pay for ya!". She'll think it's just a friendly invitation, but after doing it a couple of times, it'll gently get serious all by itself.

write her a note that says "i really like you. Will you go out with me?" thats what a lot of guys do that dont have the balls to ask her in person.

No tacky pick-up lines,don't try to be Mr.smooth.Talk to her like a friend. For example: "Hey I was gonna go check out that new restaurant on 96th street, I love it if you'd go with me." Good luck!

send some flowers and chocolates. that's the first thing you should do if you're a shy type guy.but if you know each other tell her "hey don't you know i was sleepless in the past days coz on thinking of you?
