I can't understand why anyone would drink to such excess to have fun. Can't you just have a few beers and leave at that. I don't binge drink and still enjoy myself

My Dad was a binge drinker and he would disappear for days. Binge or otherwise; it all spells alcoholism. I think the strangeness of a binge drinker is that they can stay sober for so long and then all of a sudden they are blitzed. I think a lot of alcoholics start out this way in college, because they only drink on the weekends. It is weird how some people can drink a few and stop and others get hooked right away. I have watched this happen for years. A family predisposed to alcohol (genetically) has a higher incidence of alcoholism. If you can socially drink, thank your genes, you are very lucky.

I would rather do that, have a few breers. Sometimes it seems like all the peoples be doin, is goin out and gettin sh bent, almost all the time like 24-7, or maybe just 4- 2 in the morning. That Shhit is crazy, That's a binge drinker, not much of a good life. I admit, Ive had wild night, with a case Heineken and afifth of that 1filthy. But there was atleast 2 fine gals for every dude, atleast I was init. And was crunk till 4 the next day, allgood. Then dumb binge drinkers lost there minds',the next day and bout got an *** whipping an that wasn't a good next day, even thou I was still with my dime then, So I'll admit I was upset, so I watched movie and called ita night. So Screw, all the time Binge drinkers they aint got no mind ,or alife, atleast they cuttin it them Dam self's, short.. And fucked up my Friday. Its Allgood; not for Them. Peace, 1

Alcoholism is a disease. A person who has it, can't control themselves or their intake of it. I'm not saying everyone who binge-drinks are alcoholics, but I do think that they may be on their way... It's about self control and personality. If a person is unable to moderate themselves, then they've got a problem - either they're weak and unable to deny themselves or it's borderline or full-blown alcoholism. Some people are socially insecure and keep going (drinking) because everyone else "can handle it, so must I" - peer pressure.

Everything in life outside of ourselves (our literal "being") has it's place in the fabric and structure of our lives; from the enjoyment of alcohol to computers (yahoo Answers). So many are caught up and addicted to things they can't see it for themselves. It's a shame and a waste of a good human, but so few of us can break free and keep perspective when it involves things we particularly like and find interesting or amusing.

Cheers

i occasionally binge drink for celebrations, I have a varied life a great career a solid mind I go to the gym etc etc

I agree that alcohol is a form of escape but is that necessarily a bad thing ???? I mean sure people do abuse alcohol and ther is no excuse but should you really be making judgements against people thats lives may be a little more stressful than yours

if you see the things I see you would maybe understand

Social drinkers can drink in moderation without being an alcoholic, but it is unheathy to have more than a couple of pints in one go. That is 4 units. A lot of kids nowadays are binge drinking to look good in front of their mates, but it is dangerous as you don't keep yourself safe, and bad for your body.

Well if they do, it is a pretty sad one. WC Fields and the rest were not binge drinkers. They were just drinkers.

Because some people don't know their limit, alcohol is fine in moderation, beyond that leads to brawling in public and a tendency to break the law.
