Because they pretty much reject everything they don't like. Using protection will slow down or prevent pregnancy as well as disease and they dont like it cause they are nutty.

Because all religions are about controlling the masses. Contraception gives the masses some of that control back. It really did help social control in days gone by if women were always pregnant. Having another mouth to feed kept the women from straying and the men from booze. It's that simple.

It has to do with having children. No contraception = more catholic babies who grow into catholic adults = more money to the church. It''s a scam. It's the same reason priests can't get married - when a priest dies everything he has belongs to the church , not his family. It all comes down to money with the catholics.

First, one must understand that the Catholic Church teaches sex is awesome, woderful and meant to be enjoyed. Sex has TWO purposes: the procreation of children and the good of the spouses. But that does not mean the Church wants everyone to have 18 kids....the Church teaches responible parenting...read on if you dare...you may learn something!

Second, one must understand that EVERYONE is called to chastity. Everyone. No exceptions. Chastity means using the gift of your God-given sexuality in the way intended for one's state in life. For married people, it means having sex only with the person you are married to.

Third, one must understand that the only way for sex to be truly life giving to the spouses means that they must give themselves completely to their spouse when engaging in the marital act. Completely- withholding nothing...that includes their fertility.

What kind of loving spouse says, " I give you everything I am- except my fertility. I just want to use you for my own selfish pleasure."

And that is what contracepted sex boils down to. Pope Paul VI, the his document Humanae Vitae in the 60's predicted what would happen if the availability of contraception became common. He said women would be used and objectified, abortion would be legalized, and respect for human life would plummet...leading to a culture of death in which those who are deemed somehow less than perfect are considered unwanted and unworthy of life. He predicted atrocious abortion rates, euthanasia and assisted suicide. He predicted infidelity in marriage would skyrocket, and so would divorce rates.

He called it the Culture of Death....and he was right. We are smack in the middle of it.

As far as condoms- the HIV virus is smaller than the holes in condoms...and what truly loving husband would want to risk infecting his wife with HIV- condom or not?? If you aren't marries, you shouldn't be having sex.

And for those of you who will bash Catholic family planning....NOT they rhythm method...it's called Natural Family Planning....it is as effective as the Pill- and rather than driving a wedge between couples, brings them closer together. A couple using NFP prayerfully decides whether or not they are ready to bring a child into the world. Knowledge of the wife's fertile times allows them to decide if they want to join together or stay apart for a few days. NFP couples understand that while they are not required to try for a pregnancy every month, they will joyfully accept any child as a gift from God.

It is so effective, infertile couples who have given up on drugs have achieved pregnancies.

For the record, NO CHURCH considered artificial contraception morally permissible before the Lambeth Council of the Anglican Chuch in 1930. Look wherre it got the Anglicans. They ordain practicing homosexuals!

Because it says in the Bible "Thou shall not put a rubber sheath over your nether regions, but its ok to time your sex not to have kids, because thats a totally different."

Seriously, probably a knee jerk reaction to the idea of condoms encouraging lots more sex out of wedlock.
