The Virgin Mary was the mother of Jesus. She is worshipped a Goddess by many people and Pagans will tell you that she took the place of the Goddess after Goddesses where banished and Christianity took over Europe. People were used to worshipping a woman the Virgin Mary took the place of the many Goddesses of many lands.

Very interesting question. And the answer is: in a way, she is.
See, back when Christianity was first coming into power, Christians adapted some Pagan beliefs to make converting Pagans a lot easier and more efficient. The Pagan belief was that the Goddesses gave birth to the Gods, thus Mary gives birth to Jesus, whom just so happened to be God in human form.

The Virgin Mary is simply a woman, like any other woman. She married a man named Joseph, who did not touch her sexually, until after she had delivered the Deliverer. But, after that, they had a normal marriage relationship, complete with children.
No, Mary is not a goddess. But she must have been a pretty special lady, to be chosen by God to carry our Redeemer.

Well if you look at other religions and put a comparison over her then yes. She is given goddess status in Vodoun (voodoo), in celtic beliefs also. In general wicca she is the mother goddess that gives birth to the sun god that brings light to the world.
Now in Christianity she is relegated to a nobody. She isn't even a saint. Some thanks for haveing jesus huh?

gods and goddesses (note the lowercase 'g') can be made by anyone. People can certainly choose to view her as a goddess. Honestly, anything (person, place, animal, activity, thing) that you make more important than God himself becomes a 'god.'
Mary was a simple human being who was chosen and blessed by God to carry His Son into this world.

No. There is only one God in Christianity - The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Mary was the earthly mother of Jesus and as such is in a venerated position. Her humility and love are admired. And she is a saint of the Catholic Church. We ask her to plead before her son for us. But she is not worshiped.

No, the Virgin Mary is the mother of God. She and St. Joseph DID NOT have any children together. They both remained virgins. For all of you who blasphemed about her in their answers better repent of it soon or you will be sorry. Our Lord will not tolerate anyone who offends his Mother.

No, Mary was the mother of Jesus. She was a human just like you and me. She was not a spirit, nor was she a supernatural being. Also, she had other sons and daughters by her husband Joseph.
