DOCKING TAILS IS ILLEGAL AND CRUEL!!!!!! I feel sorry for those poor puppies. Dogs use their tails to express emotions. If you dock your puppies tails then they cannot express their emotions properly and any messages that they send out using their tails could be misunderstood. The only acceptable reason for docking tails is that they are damged and putting the dog in either pain or death from the problems that their tail os causing them. Many people believe that working dog s should also have their tails docked incase they get caught. This is not true. There are hundreds of breeds of working dogs who do not have their tails docked. If you dock your puppies tails then you are a very cruel person and you do not deserve to own any dogs. TAIL DOCKING IS ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!!

They dock tails at 3 days not 2 weeks.
You will have to call your vet and find out if they will do them now that the pups are so old.

Why are you trying to get your dogs' tails docked?
Did you know that tail docking alters the way a dog moves, throws off their natural balance and makes it more difficult for them to become truly dextrous? Did you know that removing a dog's tail removes a significant part of their ability to communicate with other dogs?
If you must, find a vet to do it, but first please do think about why you're doing it. If it's just for aesthetic reasons - you like the way it looks - then is it really necessary?

You take them to your vet to get their tails docked and dew claws removed. It doesnt take long and most vets have a price for the whole litter. That should have been done a week ago. Your vet might not even do it now it might be to late. So dont even try to do it yourself, you'll kill your dogs.
And tail docking is not cruel. Its done when they cant feel it. Boxers are one breed of dog that have their tails docked to be recognized by the AKC and CKC!!!!!

In some parts of the world, docking a dog's tail is illegal.

I have known people who have done it themselves and in one or two cases, it became infected. They started the procedure the SECOND THE PUP WAS BORN - so I am not going to outlined it here since the dogs are aready two weeks old.
Better to contact a local vet and NOW.... The older the dog, the harder it is. The tail is NOT like hair or toenails. It is more like cutting off your finger.

Yes tail docking , if you can find a vet that will still do it, is done at 3-5 days old .Now its called amputation and is extremely painful , messy and huge chance of infection.

tails should be docked within the first few days they are born, otherwise, it's very traumatic and may require actual surgery. I would say that they are too old, and they shouldn't be docked at this age. You should have done your research before breeding your dog!!

it should have been done already by a vet,you will have to talk your vet about it.they really should be done when the pups are only days old because the nerve endings aren't developed yet into the tail so they don't feel any pain, after the nerves spread further into the tail the pups need to be sedated.if you are breeding your dog to sell the puppies you have to be responsible and have them checked out by the vet, anyway.
