She's trying to kick me out of the house when I'm only 27 and I'm currently attending community college. She's my only source of income, and I can't afford rent on what she's paying me. Any suggestions?

I had to take some time off of school to pursue my music career. I actually do it once a year when American Idol comes to town, and my stupid professors always fail me.

Welcome to the real-world kid. (And I say kid knowing full-well you're older than me).

You need to get up and out and on your own. It's not her responsibility to take care of you any more.

Sounds like she's not the one being an idiot, considering you're 27 and still get an allowance....

Get a job and work through school like many people have to do.

Heaven forbid you do something yourself...

Why is she your only source of income? I moved out of the house voluntarily when I was seventeen. And I'm disabled- what's your excuse? She's not obligated to take care of you.

If you can't afford rent, try moving in with some friends. Getting a house together is a pretty common solution to a high cost of living. I don't think living at home with family is a bad thing, but there is a point when it should be as adults, not as parent and child. It would help if you were responsible for part of the bills and taxes, but it sounds like you're not.

Before I tried to tell my mom anything, if I were you, I'd get a job in a hurry. If you're taking care of yourself at least somewhat, she might be more willing to keep you around. Also, if you're otherwise useful so that she wouldn't know what to do without you, it may help your cause.

Bottom line- if you're not acting like an adult, you can't really talk to her as one.

You LOSER!

You are damn lucky your 'idiot' mother is giving you an allowance and somewhere to live rent free. I cannot believe that a 27 year old would still be living with his mommy and getting an allowance like a young teenager.

So accept that YOU are the idiot, and she is benevolent and abusively kind. Realize that it is time to grow up and get a job. As far as American Idol goes, you'd be better off just buying a lottery ticket each week than auditioning for that show.

At 27, it's long since time you moved on. My suggestions are:

1. Find a job
2. Find someone willing to roommate with you to split rent.
3. Finish school and get a better-paying job.
4. Find a girl and work on buying a house

That's a bummer man! Why don't choo get your girl preggo, you know, and move her into the house wit choo. Get your mom to support you, your girl and a couple of kids too. You know she should be grateful she has you around. Keeps her on her toes.
Oh! I almost forgot, if you have a bunch of daughters, and they grow up together with you and your mom in the house, pretty soon they'll be reaching puberty, man. Then your mom can support you and your kids (maybe each from a different mother) and her great grandchildren, all before she reaches the age of 65! Wha choo think about that, man? Keep the whole fam-damily together.... way to go man.

Why not hire somebody to tell your mother she is an idiot? If you can't afford a professional service, you could always rent out a hobo for a day. They do good work, and are very affordable. Plus, you can let him stay in your garage overnight.....and with luck your mother will decide she prefers having you around rather than a mysterious drifter.

Then again, if she ends up PREFERRING the hobo over you.....well, then i guess you'd better head on down to the railyards and get on with your new life. (Ask the hobo if he can recommend a good model of bindle.)

I really think your mother needs therapy. This could be the beginning of a bigger problem like dementia. I mean wanting your 27 year old son to move out? Insane! You should be allowed to follow your dreams at her expense until she perishes without ever having spent a dime on anything but supporting her precious offspring. (By the way, if the cost of therapy in any way cuts into your allowance then just let her loose it.)

OMG. This is me sooo NOT feeling bad for you.

If you haven't made AI in FIVE years, don't you think it is time to move on? Plus, why is your mom PAYING you? GET A FREAKIN' JOB YOU LOSER.

You are 27. There is NO reason for you to STILL be mooching off your mother. Start your life, get a job, and move the f out.

How do I tell YOU YOU'RE BEING AN IDIOT???

Why is she "trying to kick you out?" Insufficient data here. However, at 27, you should be out of the house. Get a job. Become responsible. This eviction attempt on her part is probably her way of getting you to stand up and take charge of your life. You are going to college---good....but there's more to it then that. Accept the full pkg, and you'll feel better about yourself.

OUT

you're 27 and you still get an allowance! I'm 16 and haven't been getting allowance for at least 2 years, I'd suggest getting a job, that's what I did.
