Given that more and more people are getting wise to their habitual lies, cover-ups, unjustified political involvment, and deceptive motives...I think that they'll implode with 5 more years.

We have been around for 2000 years, and are not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Before you go off making accusations about the Catholic Church telling lies and other things, I suggest you take a look at the Protestant religions. . . they do the same thing.

The only difference is the Liberal Media - the Catholic Church is against everything they hold dear and will not waiver in their beliefs, so the media attack us.

** EDIT **

It was brought to my attention that I, as a Catholic, have insulted another religious belief while defending my own. Surely this was not my intent. I mentioned Protestant in my answer as a comparison, and could have easily said Jewish faith, Islamic faith or NO faith. The point I was trying to make was that the very things you accuse the Catholic Church of doing are done by EVERY religion to a point.

If I have offended anyone with my original comment, I do apologize.

They've got 1000 years left, then they'll go out in a bang. They'll be weakened in the next dacade or two, you're right. There might not be any Catholic countries left by the end of the next century (or at least fewer) but the Church will stand, and the Pope will still be in Vatican City. Then, when it looks like they've hit rock bottom, something will happen that will convert lots of people to Catholicism, and they'll be more powerful again.

Interesting....what narrow vision some people have, take a few incidents and brand everyone with that label. You make some strong accusations, but failed to cite any relevant examples and how Catholics as a whole fall into this branding of yours. I don't hold Islam responsible for the actions of a few radical extremists, and the actions of a few people who happen to be Catholic, should not be taken as a reason to brand them as a whole. I don't necessarily agree with all their doctrines or teachings, but then again I don't have to be a Catholic if I choose not to be. To answer your origional question though, I highly doubt the Catholic religion is going anywhere soon, as they have a long tradition that has withstood scandels and persecution before.

I'll assume that the "Catholic Cult" is a 'cute' pet name of yours for the catholic religion. It's not going anywhere, buddy, it's been around for a LOOOOONNG time and they have had much worse scandals than this.

They said the world was flat, and that to say otherwise was against God. Can you even imagine how embarassing that would be when it was discovered to be untrue?

They said the SUN revolved around the EARTH and to say otherwise was against God.

As long as the Irish are around, there will always be the catholic church.

It is interesting to note that, while the issues are being addressed at the doctrinal teachings of the CHURCH itself, many of its constituents --the "Holy See"-- TAKE IT TOO PERSONALLY even if they are not being accused or blamed INDIVIDUALLY for the falshehoods and lies perpetrated by the RCC.

For certain, there are multitudes of good, honest and decent people within its Faithful including those who are near and dear to my heart that I've known all my life.

The Catholics must BEGIN TO REALIZE FOR THEIR OWN SAKES the magnitude of such blunders, errors, sins or commission and sins of omission that have been indoctrinated for millennia now. Yet many continue to cling on to dear Mother Church because of the inherrent FEAR that has been instilled in them.

It is the classic case of 'the blind leading the blind" at its sublime worst. Wouldn't they rather listen to the words of Wisdom given by the Saviour?

He said "Seek and you shall find. Listen and you shall hear. Open your eyes and you shall see. Knock and the door shall be opened for you."

Peace be with you!

Who is the King or Prince of Tyrus in the bible?

I do believe idols in the Catholic church will be destroyed soon. In Exodus 20 it is written to not bow down to idols. The iniquities (habitual sins like sexual molester) go on to the 3rd & 4th generation to those who hate God. The blessings go on the 1000s generations to those who love God.

I hope you're right, but I seriously doubt it. The Catholic church is not just a religion, it's a culture as well. People don't want to give that up even if they lose faith in the church itself.

Too bad that people have not developed a good vocabulary.. and know the meaning of words...as then they would not be subject to the use of improper words to write their questions... or answers.

Are you some kind of nihilist? "There is no such thing as a virgin", "There is no such thing as sin"...if you are that's cool with me. I am the last person who wants to attack people based on their belief or lack thereof. I've just never met one.
