What do you think are the qualifications?

Would you rather have a younger, more beautiful/handsome flight attendant or an older, more experienced one?

Most of them are female, but there are some men too. t is the inheritance from the early days of aviation, whem people were scared to death when entering the "flying machine". Since most of the passengers were men, the fear was surpressed with a look to a good looking female flight attendant - and what man would ever show his fear in front of a good looking young lady?

The qualifications are numerous, but achievable - 2 or 3 foreign languages, good health condition and fitness, first aid and CPR education, special on-board health care (icluding helping at child birth and heart attack).

In my country (which is recently named "Serbia") flight attendant is considered a good job, but not many young ladies can get into it, because of rather small commercial fleet.

Are most flight attendants female? Yes

Is being a flight attendant a good job? Not in my country. The pay is low and if you have low seniority, the pay is really low and the hours very bad.

Qualifications: At least a high school graduate; must be kind and considerate. If you speak a foreign language that is an advantage for airlines that fly international.

Prefer younger, more attractive or older and more experienced? I prefer a flight attendant that does his/her job professionally and is kind to passengers. However some airlines do have young flight attendants who are very good at serving because they go through a rigorous training program. When they step on an airplane, you think they have been doing this for years. Singapore Airlines is a good example. Emirates and Cathay Pacific are equally as good.

I think the majority of FA's are female now, probably about an 85-15 split between female and male respectively.

Back in the day, way back in the 30's and early 40's, most airlines had a majority of male "stewards".
Eddie Rickenbacker of Eastern Airlines refused to hire female stewards due to the fact that they would meet, fall in love and marry the male passenegers thus creating a high turnover rate which increased training cost and made for poor cabin service by inexperienced crews.
