You have an honest conversation and tell them the truth.
Most people would rather hear the truth even if its not what they wanted than to be strung along in a relationship if you know your not feeling the same thing they are.
Maybe if you tell them you need to move on you will find they were wanting that too,,, and just like you didn't want to hurt your feelings.

You tell the other person the truth and how you feel. Its never an easy thing to tell someone you want to move on, but the sooner you realize you don't want to be with them, the better.

Just set em down somewhere where it is only you 2 and just talk to them about it.Tell them how you feel and what you want to do if the person cares for you like they should they will be upset of course but they will understand how you see things and that you want to move on.And doing this hopefully will save your friendship also.

Speak to him and tell him how you feel. You feel like you are ready to move on and give him reasons why you think you both should see other people. He'll probably understand.

Be honest with yourself and them. "Know this to be true; above all things to thy self be true". Its never easy when you have an intense relationship, but its better to be truthful than dishonest and miserable. Its fair to both parties to speak up rather than live in disgustment.
