◙ The very best virus scanners are free. Mcafee & Norton Antivirus are mostly hype and won't do as good as the free ones.
◙ Download and install AVG. Use it first and see if it finds any viruses or trojans.

I used norton-anti virus, the older version, but the definition files are updated very often

I really like McAfee but for some slower computers low on memory it is too much. If that is the case you want to use PC-Cillin. I was using Norton but it has become so cumbersome that I have discontinued using it. A matter of fact I just removed it from my son's computer (version 2006) and put McAfee back on it.

I like Symantec. The interface is easier than McAffe. Just about any mainstream AV will protect you as long as you update it.
