It's funny you ask that. Once a person turns to God, they RARELY turn back. But once a person turns Atheist, about 90% of the time they turn into Christians. There was an interesting non denominational study done on how many Atheist turned to God the almighty in situations of life threatening disease, poverty, and family crisis. The wonderful news is that God forgives, and they are granted eternal life, by the grace of God.

I have personally know 3 atheist in my life. My biological Uncle was one of them. 2 years ago his wife of 40 years was dieing of breast cancer. He came to me and asked if I would pray with him. Since then she has become cancer free, and they both worship God daily now. I think the majority of proclaimed atheist are attention seekers.

This is not the Christianity Section. Look closely at its title. The definition of an atheist is : One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods. As I've only seen very few posts where the person says they don't believe in a god, or gods, then I think you're coming off with this question half ******. As to the person who put 90% of atheists turn back to christianity, both my father and grandfather were atheists in its truest form, choosing to not believe in any god, and they died that way. I've known quite a few atheists in my little time here on earth. However, most of people I do know, have been christians, and decided it was better for them to not partake in the hypocritical life that it was. This section is for people who prefer to expand their horizon and it included Spirituality also. Try breaking out a dictionary before you assume any religion besides christianity is atheist.

mmmk?

Blessed Be

This section is called Religion AND Spirituality. Some atheists have spiritual beliefs without believing in the Great Bearded Sky Daddy. Lots of us pagans and agnostics are in here, too, not just atheists. You seem to think this is a Christians Only section. It is most emphatically not.

This section also welcomes Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Hindus, and all other believers and non-believers.

Who told you that the Religion and Spirituality section of Yahoo Q & A belonged to the Christians?
It certainly does not state the "Religion, Spirituality and Christianity" section, does it?
Your question makes it obvious that, since you are a Chosen One...that you are better than the rest...and that you have a special place in the world.
Now that you see you don't have a special place in the Q & A section, you are trying to claim it as a christian forum.
Take your blinders off!

In my case, I only answer questions that I feel are invasive of our right not to be religious, and those addressed to or talking about us non-believers, like yours. You're entitled to your religious propaganda. Well, I'm entitled to stating the opposite. Anyway, this is the right place at YA to discuss religions, for or against them.

I'm usually at the "Society & Culture" section, which includes Religions, too. So, I cannot help reading these questions. And no. Keep the "spirit of the lord" far away from my life.

I care because believers will take every opportunity to force their beliefs on the rest of us -- in the courts (paid for with my taxes), in the schools (paid for with my taxes), even in my own home (where I'm told that I may not go to bed with whomever I choose, or make my own medical decisions, unless the majority of my countrymen approve). Christians are accustomed to being the majority; that doesn't make them right. If your question was intended to shut us up, then it's a failure. You'll have to try something like passing bigoted legislation or distorting the constitution, or whatever the "spirit of the lord" instructs you to do next.

Easiest 2 points. Copied from my Blog entry for the most popular and beloved question. :-)

I, as only one spiritual atheist, am here to learn about the various religions, philosophies and spiritualities of the world. I always held fascination with religions in general (not just christianity---ALL religions, old and new). I do not seek a "god" belief, but here to seek how people attain inner-peace, self-knowledge, inner-wisdom and how they attain peace in their lives in general---and that I might learn a thing or two. :-) I seek to find and improve on my own atheistic spirituality, to improve upon myself. Isn't that what spirituality is basically about? I believe so!

I also hang out here NOT to "defeat religion" but mainly to give the "other side" of the equation, to give information, and to let others know that there are more than one valid way to see, learn and experience the world. R/S section is not "just reserved for the theists". It is reserved for all.

I have to disagree that being spiritual always REQUIRES a "god" belief. What of the Buddhists or Taoists? They are deeply spiritual, but lack a "god" belief of sorts. The way I see it, spirituality focuses on the internal part of the person---their soul, their personality, their well-being. Religion focuses more on the external (church, praying rituals, communion, confessionals, etc), and usually religion does require a belief in "god" or a supernatural entity of some sort.

Atheism is still a belief and as such we come to this forum to discuss matters relating to our beliefs. Someone else has already stated that this is a religion and spirituality section, not a singularly Christian one.

Some may be overbearing or childish, but you can just ignore them. I believe most atheists love a good debate and come here to find opposing and supporting opinionated people with whom they can exchange ideas.

Why do some Christians knock on doors? Why do some people put your name on their denominations mailing list? It's called evangelism. Some people believe in something, some in nothing and we all want to be right. We all can't be right, or can we?

It would be nice if you could just have a seeker section where everyone could just evangelize to those seeking but it doesn't seem to work that way.

It's a multicultural world and we just need to be respectful. It doesn't mean we have to agree.

Yes! I totally agree! Their not here by chance, There led here by God, and they don't realize it. They read all of the Christians answers, but they still keep hanging around. I know for a fact that there are other sites on the web, that would be more appealing to what they claim they believe in. Jesus said He came to seek the lost, and with His Fathers help, He intends to find them. Didn't He say that if you have a hundred sheep, and you lose one, do you not go after the one, until you find it? He did not say until it's too late, He said until you find it!! It's never too late for Jesus.

As an atheist, I come to the religion section to promote my religion, support my fellow non-believers, spread the good news, proselytize and to answer questions.

I was raised in a Baptist home, my grandfather was a Baptist preacher, and I was a practicing Christian for over thirty years.

According to Baptist doctrine, "once saved, always saved," so you might say I am a Christian atheist.

However, it is a fact that supernatural entities, including "God(s)," do not exist in fact.
