As per Hindus philosophy, woman is a manifestation of Shakti (Eternal self conscious Energy)....Shakti is half of the Shiva, the supreme consciousnes.

Shiva is worshipped by hindus in "Ardhanarishwara" form...a form which is half male and half female.

In Tantra philosophy of Hindus, God is worshipped in a woman form of Mother.

Most of the Gods of hinuds are with their wives..whose names come before their male counterpart during worship.

Women were the head of family, and important factor in society in ancient India...of course with arrival of muslim and christian invaders, some pollution entered the Indian culture...and women lost a little of their respect.

Well, I'm not sure that what I am, which is Red Road (a follower of Native American Spirituality), qualifies as a "religion" per se, but in accordance with the traditions of the elders and whats been passed down ... A womans role ... People don't realize that Native American culture was largly maternalistic in nature. Women were allowed to decide certain things that men were NOT allowed to have a say in. An example is that when tribes captured members of other tribes or white settlers it was left to the women to decide these captives fate. They would either be adopted into the tribe and accepted as full members or they would be kept as slaves, all on the women's say so. The children of a woman were considered HER children and NOT the children of her husband. The rationale here is based on the old saying, "We know who your mother is. Who your father is is only a rumor." It was her right to turn a son over to one of her brothers in order to have the boy taught how to hunt, etc. Women are traditionaly allowed to make their own medicine shields, men aren't. The reasoning is that women are more honest about their accomplishments. Men have to let a male friend make their medicine shield so that bragging and boasting doesn't come into play. And the Pipe, the Pipe Ceremony, was delivered to the People via the White Buffalo Calf Woman. It was SHE who appeared and described how it was that the People were to pray using the Pipe. This is one reason the White Buffalo is held in such high regards, being considered as a kind of manifestation of the Divine. But the one who came FIRST as the White Buffalo was female, not male. Women hold a high status in both Native American culture AND spirituality. ~ Peace & Blessings ~

My religion. christianity, tells me that a womans roll in the house hold is to nurture, teach, love, and comfort her family. A mans roll is to provide. Women can also be providers, but men like to think that women need them, so... You know, they usually think that women are suppose to stay home, while they work. My religion tells me that if you fallow your heart and do the right thing, everything will come out ok. Be true to yourself and if you have an opinion on this matter than go with it. : )

i am a Chrisitan, and heres how i see it from the Bible.

Women are used in the bible by God to do great things, like Esther. So we can do great things today too.

in the home, we are the nurturers. the man provides, and the woman uses the provision to produce good nurturing things. this is more of a spiritual thing than anything. its not saying women cant work, but women are naturals at nurture.

in marriage, they are to submit to (respect) there husbands, and there husbands are to love them as much as Jesus loves His church. its a two way thing, and easy when both are playing there part. there is a part of the bible that says submit to one another. this is in your duties (woman = respect, man = loving affection.) the reason women arent commanded to give loving affection directly is coz it comes so naturally to us. but were still to do it as a good Christian anyways.

I'm an atheist and a person's role is to perform whatever tasks most suitable for their abilities & talents.

When it comes to women generally, the majority are suited for at least one or two common tasks, but beyond that, it depends on the individual.

Christian here. Women are to be treated respectfully. In a marriage, the husband is the head of the household. Actually, I like your question. It makes me want to learn more about what precisely that means...good job!

I'm catholic which tells me that I am devoted to my husband (although he is deceased) but if I were to marry again or have a relationship with another, I would be devoted to that one man only.He would come first before me & I would always be there for him.His wants are my desires. Is that what you want to know???

Christianity teaches that a husband should cherish his wife, just as he would cherish himself. She would be his help mate and bring up her children in the fear of the Lord.

Christianity - There should not be any gender specific roles according to God. Someone who says there is is reading into the bible and not putting God and God's love first. God is not for separating. Love is our only commandment or rule.
