My bro always gets mohawks and he uses styling gel and his stands straight up.

I've heard that punks with REALLY long mohawkes use either PVA glue or sugar mixed with water and hold it up while it dries with a hairdryer. It sets really hard. Any gel or mouse will just fall out or go greasy and the mohawk will flop.

How did you do that? I need to find out before halloween, lol. Anyways, try using garnier fructis playstyle pliable clay (it comes in a little jar-like container with a red lid, they have one big jar shaped kind of weird, and a littler one. Buy the small one.) from CVS, and use a super strong hair spray. I know this one dude at school who told me thats what he uses to keep his mohawk up. Good luck!

Hair glue.
You can find it at hair supply stores, Walmart also has a version called "Ice" that has different colors as well as clear.
It works best on semi-dry hair.
Lean forward and run it thru your hair so its in pretty well (its pretty sticky stuff!) then straighten up and you can play around with it til you get it how you want.

Beyond the Zone hair cement called "Spike It"! It literally feels like glue when you put it in but yea it works and you can wash it out easily!!!

There's a bees-wax product you can buy at the beauty supply store. My son also used to use elmers glue to get his spikes to stand up. Don't laugh, it DOES work.
