And why was it ok to marry family back then and its not ok now? Does the bible state anywhere that its a sin now? or is that just a government thing?

Children from closely related parents suffered the same chance of birth defect and harmful mutation then, as they do now.

Remember that your children inherit more than just your blue eyes and cute nose. They also inherit your cholesterol, your risk for cancer, and your high blood pressure. If two people with a very high risk for cancer, for example, have children, then the children inherit a double dose risk for cancer.

Since siblings often inherit the same health risks, two siblings are almost always at a high risk for passing on birth defects. However, most people don't realize that birth defects can come from parents who are not closely related, yet still share similar harmful genetic traits.

The Bible does talk about not marrying family. Especially in the earlier parts of the Old Testament. I think it might be in Deuteronomy or Leviticus. The deformities only occur when the whole blood brothers or sisters have children. Otherwise, there is enough of a difference that the deformities won't always happen.

Along the natural course of things, things do not improve, they tend to degrade. That is why an abandoned house falls apart. (thus showing evolution is not the way we got here)

There was no time for DNA to be corrupt until later on in human history. By that time, God did forbid close relatives from "sleeping" together. Before this, it was not sin. Where there is no law, t here is no trangression of the law.

The did have genetic problems. You have to remember that health care was so bad back then that deformed babies usually didn't live past birth and never lived past the river they were drown in for being "touched."

yes the bible says not to do that any more. Also, there are in fact certain diseases that have developed due to that inter marriage you speak of. One is in the jewsih community ( im jewish ) and it is a disorder that is certainly because of marrying to close to the family line. This is found not in all jews but a certain sect.....

not a sin, but i would suppose since we started with two, then started over again after noah, its not a sin, because we are all related, its become more of a human morals type thing because inbreeding can result in terrible birth defects.
