Pantene makes really good products for permed hair, no matter the texture. Try using a light hold spritz rather than a gel or something you rub in. A spritz tends to go through your hair evenly and generously without weighing it down. Also, the first amount of time with a perm, maybe even two months, wash your hair less often, maybe once a week or even once every two. I know it seems gross, but if you wash too often, you'll wash the perm completely out as it's still trying to get used to your hair.

Perm care?
A perm can make hair dry. I would oil my hair with jojoba oil (the American Natives use it for thick, shiny hair), leave it on at night (covered) and wash it out next morning.
May be you want to do this once a week for some time. Mousse etc. can also dry hair.
If necessary, I would also use a good hair conditioner for dry hair.
Your long hair must look beautiful!

You can use a spray gel and spray conditioner. Put the conditioner mostly on the ends, Scrunch both and let air dry. It should be soft and not the wet crunchy look.NO BRUSH !

nicely, it sounds like your hair is quite at its snapping factor. every time you get a chemical provider on your hair, it weakens it. think of of each of the situations the ends of your hair have been the two permed or colored or highlighted. nice hair won't be able to handle that to boot as coarser hair. And it feels like the perm would have grew to become your hair into what sounds like cotton candy while its moist, and regrettably, that can basically be repaired lots. So i might propose a solid haircut and injury repairing shampoo and conditioner with a weekly protein/moisturizing treatment.

Try the John Frieda Frizz Ease range and just let your hair dry naturally after shampooing and conditioning. They also do a serum that it non greasy and will help to keep your curls defined and not frizzy. Hope I helped :)

never brush your hair
only come it while in shower
get a silicone based styling product - they do not have alcohol so they do not frizz & do not leave your hair greasy looking (if used correctly)..
best of luck to you
