My 18 month old baby girl who is very healthy has suddenly developed a problem ( the past 2 hours). She seems to have lost her balance. When she walks she is struggling. We have checked her feet and legs there seems to be no bruises indicating that she could have been hurt. She is still so jovial & full of life, no fever or anything to indicate she is sick. We have massaged her feet &d legs & she enjoyed it. My husband thinks it could have been that needle & pins sensation that was causing but for two hours. Any advise will be appreciated. A friend thought it could be meningitis but I looked up the symptoms & she has nothing. She is just struggling to walk. We have taken her slippers off. Has this happened to any of your kids. I have 4 children & this is the first time I have experienced something like this & it is driving me insane not knowing what it is. I tried calling her doctor but to no avail. It would have to be first thing in the morning. I am in South Africa.

This is scary. It could be anything as simple as like you said "pins and needles" or fluid in her ears throwing off her equilibrium to things much more serious.
I am not sure what the emergency care is like there but if something is available I would take her in. Better safe then sorry! Otherwise just keep an eye on her and document everything and make sure she is seen ASAP!
Good luck!

OH i WOULD DEFIANTLY take her to the emergency room ASAP! There is some sort of problem. Perhaps blood clothing or something. I have a question, are you African or American? or what? do you live in there because...
Just wondering! I'm very interested in Africa and I've visited there three times in my life. We stayed for 4 month the first time, 3 months the next time and around 5 weeks the next time.

I have heard of this happening. Sometimes inner ear problems can cause kids to be off balance. Does she have an ear infection? Has she been around anyone who is sick? Even though it could turn out to be nothing or something like this, you never know. Can you take her to the emergency room?

Sounds like it might be an ear infection- messes up your equilibrium. I would bring her to the doctor and check the ears out- my children have had infections without pain at first and I was surprised once when told at a routine check that she had an ear infection.

Could be an ear infection - can cause your balance to be off - my daughter had double ear infections for close to a year and she stumbled a lot when they were infected
Also (more serious) a concussion if she hit her head recently. If that's what happened, keep her awake and get to an ER
