i have been working with computers since 1996, and I have never encountered a situation where installing software of any kind damaged hardware....so, no it won't

No it will not damage the hardware on your laptop but I recommend that you follow Microsoft's instructions to the letter as far as their specifications and minimum requirements for Windows Vista.

No, It might not be compatable but damage would be doubtful. The worst that would happen is that your operating system would run slow or not at all. (you would have to install your original operating system) No real worries...

probably won't damage but you will more than likely have a lot of problems with things not working because of drivers not being compatible
