I am an Allyson nickname Ally, so I vote for either Alyson -Aly or Allyson -Ally. If you use Alison use Ali. Just makes more sense.

I'd go with "Alison", because if you change the "I" to "Y", they'll be forever spelling her name wrong and soon you'll be exasperated with having to defend it. Although they may very well do the same with "Alison", because usually there are two L's...perhaps you should consider using the more standard form "Allison" to save yourself and the child considerable aggravation down the road. And the nickname should have two L's just for aesthetic sake..."Aly" looks rather strange in print. JMHO.

Alison or course, that is my Ali's name. Actually there are many beautiful nick names for Alison.

Ali
AE (for Alison Elizabeth... you pick your second initial)
Peachfuzz
Fuzz

***Note Allison was not a choice yet someone just had to throw it in there. I wonder what her daughter's name is....

**** Note: Alison (German form) Allison... made up American name.

*** Note why do people have to always put a stupid unique spin on an already pretty name. No wonder kids can't spell their friends names..... or teachers can't either.

my niece was just named alyson...but i think i like alison better. I was all for spelling names different till i spelled my daughters hailey instead of haley...so now all our family spells her name wrong. and my sisters name was spelled krystle so for the first 15 years or so my grandmother couldn't get it right and most other people too. for the nickname it would be ali if you spelled it alison...aly if you spelled it alyson.

Have you thought about "Allyson"? If the nickname is going to be Ally, the name should have two Ls. If it's going to have an I, then the nickname needs to be Ali or Alli.
