Do you think the good christians in America would tolerate sin and not throw the stones?

Since its not in the Bible according to some of them on here I have read today.

If you caught me cheating on my wife would you stone me, since your Bible does not instruct you to tolerate sin?

I'm going to an extreme here to make a point maybe, but these cases are documented they have happened twice a day in the middle east.

Just looking for a little tolerance here.

What do you think people learn from these experiences? You or I read about such things and we learn tolerance and we learn compassion. Others also are learning and hopefully we will get to a world without such hateful acts being committed. If I caught you cheating on your wife I would mind my own business. You are free to live as you want. A grown man or woman is capable of making their own choices without judgment from me. If you meant would I get stoned with you, anytime.

It comes down to people and not a whole religion. I am christian, but I have never ever been taught to hate, and I think that is how i can believe and trust in religion, where others fall away. My bible and my teachings from church give me absolutely NO RIGHT to judge anyone for any purpose. That is a good way to tell the christians (or whatever religion) from those who are just doing what they are taught and not living a life because they feel and know their faith. Anyone who uses the christian religion as a tool of hate is not living God's way. People put to much stalk in the bible for one thing, and they sometimes try to make those inspired words of man into their law, that is idolatry. God as well as Jesus has never given us any reason to do anything other than love. That is people taking man's word and their own insecurities and ignorance out on the world. God's one hope is that we could all love each other and the main purpose of Jesus' teachings were to teach that same love. Nothing more, man just made it so to fit his idea of what living well meant. Love should be the bottom line. Even if people do not like what others do, they should know enough to know that God is the only judge, not them. Show your love to people and hope and pray that we can change this world instead of letting the haters run ramped and say it is in the name of a loving God.

It is a case of hating the people committing the sin and not the sin itself. It is the actions that should be despised, not the one committing the act. I believe God shows great tolerance with the world today. No, I would not stone you if I caught you cheating on your wife, ( I would just tell your wife, LOL!), but I would not excuse what you did either.

In the old testament you would be tried and if found guilty then stoned. It would not be a personal thing, but a court judgment like the death penalty. In the new testament we might preach to you but "vengance belongs to the Lord he will repay" is the order of the day, even though you deserve to be killed for adultery.
This isn't tolerance as we don't like the sin of adultery, but we do love you and will keep praying and talking to you in hopes that you will see that you are doing wrong.

There are plenty of Muslim countries where stoning is illegal, recognised as bad and not done. It all depends on how literally the people take the word of the book that they believe in (this is equally applicable in Judaism, Christianity and Islam) and on what power those people have to affect the laws of the state.

Amnesty International takes a strong stand against stoning and on their website www.amnesty.org you can learn how you can help fight it.

Apples and Oranges

Would you like for us to stone you for your sins. We can't. You'll have to answer for that at the time of judgement. Should you be stoned, well maybe not stoned but a good @sswippin might be in order.

If I caught you cheating on your wife, I wouldn't stone you. But I wouldn't commend you, either. It's bad for you, your wife and family and for the other woman.

I am intolerant of adultery. It destroys lives. I can be intolerant of it without being abusive to those caught in it.

I should have the greatest intolerance for sin in my own life. I can be supportive of others without being supportive of their sin. I can be - or in some cases, point to - a good example. I can counsel. I can pray for them. They don't have to know. It doesn't have to be intrusive.

Sin is not a means of disapproving of others. It is hurtful and destructive. Sin is a threat that I want to avoid and I want to support others in avoiding.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for. I wouldn't stone anyone. I am not without sin. How could I pass judgement on anyone else? I believe it's God's place to judge, so, even though I do fail sometimes, I try my hardest to not judge people. I don't want them judging me.
