Mostly the answers I would advise here. One or two scary yesses!

Why are email addresses, then, considered so much less personal property than mobile numbers?

No, unless I knew both parties very well, and knew that either the asker had lost it, having been given it in the past by the holder, or that the holder would want me to give the asker the number. If none of the exceptions applied, I would call the holder at a later time without telling the asker, and notify him (the holder) that the asking party would like to get in touch with him and to please advise how he wants me to handle it.

E-mail addresses are still personal, but the holder does not have to pay for minutes and can read the message at any time, if he wishes to read it at all. I think that the mobile phone rule applies to giving out an e-mail address as well. The point is to use one's best judgement as it specifically applies to each situation. NOTE: If an e-mail address is listed, then the holder wants to be available to people who may search for it, knowing very well that anyone can look it up.

It would depend on the circumstances, it they were in trouble and the police asked for it, then yes I would give it to them, but no, probably not for any other reason. I don't think it's any different for an e-mail address either, that is still personal information.

No, if the friend wanted this number he should go ask the person himself. Reason being that most people are very strick on who they give their numbers out to, and also what if the friend (who you give out the number) does not get along with the other friend (the one asking for it).

No, I would pretend I didn't have it. Mainly this is because I did do this once and the friend who the person wanted to call went nuts about it when he found out it was me that gave his number out. Lesson learned.

If I know or think that my friend doesn't mind, I will. I for one have no problem with anybody knowing my mobile number. But others don't like that, so I respect their decision.

Not usually. Maybe in certain circumstances. I wouldn't give anyone elses email address either.

No, I would pass on a message that the person was trying to get in contact with them.
