Not within the next 200 years. China has too many problems that people are overlooking. They have lost jobs because their people were not smart enough to do them. While education is getting better in the big cities, China is a huge rural country, lacking in running water, plumbing, schools, and a government responsive to change. Just like years ago the Japaneese were going to be the new economic leaders, someone is always projecting our downfall. PS> India is taking greater strides in all areas then China, they will pass China without anyone paying attention.

In my honest opinion, China does not need to topple America. Americans are unnecessarily affraid of China and Muslim nations. I say USA must learn to live and let live.

Every man, woman and child in China — all 1.3 billion of them — jump up at the same time and when they land, they knock the Earth off its axis, hurtling the planet toward the sun and its fiery demise. OK, maybe that's not how the world will end. But it's getting harder to ignore China.
Tried buying clothes lately? Toys? Household goods? Can you find anything that isn’t made in China? In 2004, Wal-Mart alone imported $18 billion worth of goods from China, according to Newsweek magazine. Of Wal-Mart's 6,000 suppliers, 80 percent are in China. And it’s not just Wal-Mart. Take a look at what's in your closet or drawers at home. At least you’re not driving a car from China. Most likely, it's made in Japan or Korea.
The United States has been preoccupied with the war on terror since Sept. 11, 2001, but we're slowly beginning to realize that Muslim fanatics may not be the only threat to our way of life. I don't know if it was coincidence, but in the span of a few weeks, Time, Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report each came out with cover stories on China earlier this year. The headlines talked about "China's Century," the "China Challenge" and the "Awakening Giant."
U.S. News & World Report predicts China’s economy will surpass Japan's by 2020, becoming second largest in the world. How worried should we be about China? I’ve been reading a lot about China's emergence as a global economic and military power. Most experts believe China is equally fraught with danger for the U.S., as well as opportunity.
China is a different story. It has the largest standing army in the world — 1.6 million (compared to 502,000 men and women who serve in the all-volunteer U.S. Army). China has another 255,000 conscripts in its navy and 400,000 in its air force. There's also 800,000 Chinese in the nation’s military reserves.
China has the third biggest nuclear arsenal. With more than 2.2 million Chinese under arms, you wonder about China's military threat to its neighbors. With the Soviet Union no longer around to compete with China for dominance on the Asian continent, why does China need such a large military? It's unlikely Mongolia is planning to attack it.
China has a history of aggressiveness. Chinese soldiers attacked U.S. forces during the Korea War, leading to a stalemate that left the Korean peninsula divided to this day. China also invaded and continues to occupy Tibet. China was a major reason the United States lost the Vietnam War. And China continues to threaten invasion of the island nation of Taiwan, which China considers a breakaway state that should be reunited with the mainland.
China may have the largest population in the world, but it’s the unlimited slave labor that gives it an unfair economic advantage over the United States. President Bush is walking a tightrope during this week's visit to China, calling for the Communist Party bosses to allow more freedom, but what's the incentive for them as long as American consumers continue to pour billions of dollars into the Chinese economy every year? There are no unions in China. There are no child labor laws to follow.
China is now the largest creditor for the U.S., keeping our economy going by loaning our government money to run up huge deficits. The sad truth is that most Americans don't think about the labor camps and the children working in sweatshops when they’re standing at the checkout line at Wal-Mart or their favorite dollar store. They’re just happy to save a few cents.
The more interdependent the economies of the United States and China become, the less likely either nation would do anything to jeopardize that economic partnership. Eventually, Wal-Mart may become more powerful the communist party bosses that control China.
The world has changed dramatically in the past 10 years. Globalization and the Internet make political boundaries irrelevant. The rise of the middle class in China will eventually topple the communist dictatorship. Human nature being what it is, the more taste Chinese citizens acquire for material possessions and comfort, the greater their appetite will grow.
A communist regime cannot satisfy consumer demand. It is destined to collapse on itself.

No. China will be effectively checked when we help re-arm Japan and become closer and friendlier with India.
Also, China is too dependent economically on the US, and the communist tyranny will come crashing down in a terrible civil war in the not too distant future.

riiight. ok osama, now go back in your cave and pray to allah, he will make it happen. Just keep on praying. You douchebags need to realize that it would take almost every other country on earth against the US to take the fight to US soil. Otherwise the US will always take the fight to the enemy and no country is better trained to kick in doors than the US and Great Britain and Australia. They have each others back like no other so I suggest all you keep watching the big bad U.S. of A, cuz the Aussies and Brits are gonna ***** slap you just as bad as the US.

The United States and China will split up France and the other defenseless countries in Europe, whenever they decide to do so. You don't take on your equal, you take over from those who won't defend themselves.

Yes, it will but it won't be via their army. They will take control via the economy. They know how to get the most bang for the buck and with our corrupt government officials, that we voted in, it's just a matter of time. We did this to ourselves.

Any threat China poses against the U.S. could easily be handled, if necessary, by a few well-placed tactical nukes and/or MOABS...
