Any breed or mutt will go outside if properly trained. If your dog is going in the house you need to learn how to train the dog. There are websites and good books on the subject. You train it to go outside by learning the dogs "needs to go " behavior and getting him outside before he goes. When he goes outside give him plenty of praise, even a small treat. If you catch him in the act indoors give your hands a hard clap and say "no" in a firm tone, not loud, firm. Then get him out. If you find piles or puddles after the fact just clean it up and berate yourself for not paying attention. She will need to go out when she wakes up in the morning, after naps, after exercise (playing) and after eating. It is up to you to do the training. Never rub your dogs nose in any of it and never hit a dog.

No, I had a Maltese and it went outside. They take longer to train I would think...

Only ones that are not trained. People do not understand that whatever bad behavior your dog is doing is your fault not the dogs. You probably need to take her out more.
