I am agnostic...Jesus may have been existed. I need proof that "God" exists. Not Jesus. I have read the Bible and believe it to be a book of contradictions. It makes absolutely no sense. I feels sorry for those who follow it as "The Word of God". The Bible was written by many men years and years and year and years ago. Why are people so ignorant to the facts? The Bible is not fact.

Don't need to much proof 'cause if it were true it would still be awful hard to prove it. But I need my beliefs to be consistant with what I know about how the world works and with a workable system of ethics.
If there were actual results from prayer that would help though. If the promises from the church that God would guide and help and support me actually panned out, that would help too. Most of my guidance has been from real flesh and blood people, and my own judgement, not from any supernatural source. And if you say "Well, god sent them" or something like that, you are taging "god" onto something that had nothing whatsoever to do with God.

So there you go, I hope that helps.

Edit: since I did go off the question, I want to tag on that I have read the Bible. Not all the way though, but I've read and studied most of it for the first 20 years of my life. I used to be an evangelical believer and I took it very seriously. But now I'm an atheist.

There is no credible evidence that supports any of the bible stories, it isn't just Jesus.

The entire bible has no credibility, so even if someone proved some guy named Jesus from Nazareth really existed, it would mean absolutely nothing.

Until someone comes forth with credible evidence that supernatural entities ("Gods") exist, then proving Jesus existed is pointless.

Additional comment to clarify:

Joseph Smith invented Mormonism.

Joseph Smith died for his cause, as did many of his followers.

There is no doubt that Joseph Smith existed, but does that mean what he claimed is true? Several million people seem to think so, but does that make it true?

It's the same with Jesus.

There is no doubt that Jesus was a real person. His extraordinary life is in question, though. I have read the bible. It is simply a lot of outlandish stories. Now, this is not to that it does not have some good morals, and ideas in it. But, to believe every story as fact is just naive. This (among many other reasons) is why I believe Christianity is a farce.

I don't ask for proof, because its not about Jesus for me. Its not about just belief in Jesus its the whole dogma of Christianity, it doesn't seem feasable to me that there is an absolute evil and an omnipotent good. Besides if the Bible was sent from God, it's obvious that God isn't perfect otherwise the book would be easier to understand and wouldn't have him committing his own deadly sins. Like Envy. The whole system seems flawed and unfixable in my mind. I opted for another belief structure.

I belive in Christ. I'm a Christian - but i kinda wanted to add my 2 cents. I think it's funny that when Jesus walked the earth, they wanted proof that he was the Son of God. They HAD the proof but some of them still did not believe. It's still like that today. There isn't one thing in the Bible that can be disproved.

You can CHOOSE to believe it or Not - but Jesus existed. One day we will ALL face Jugement. Are you ready to suffer for Eternity? answer that!

I think it's likely that Minos existed, I just don't think he was the son of a god (Zeus in this case), I don't believe his wife Pasiphae had a son part man, part bull (the Minotaur). I don't know about you, but I have not reasons to believe in the supernatural events surrounding his life, even if there are stories about it.

The same goes for Jesus, I think it's very likely he existed, I just doubt the whole supernatural story surrounding him. I feel exactly the same for Muhammad and any other god or prophet and their supernatural life/experiences.

The good times and even the disasters in my life haven't changed my mind about it.

I've read the bible cover to cover, already.

I don't need proof to entertain an idea. I read the Bible. I read it critically and my copy has red pencil all over it. I am convinced, now, that men wrote the Bible and there is no such being as capital "G" god. Unless, by pure coincidence cap "G" does exist, then I think he sucks!

I don't see it as needing proof that Jesus existed. I do believe that he did exist. I don't think he was the son of "God". Similar to other religions i.e. martyrdom, his death created the myth that Christianity is based upon. He wanted change, both religious and political, while he was alive., and after his death, people who had similar ideals and goals made him into something he was not, the son of God. You need a convincing argument to make people turn their backs on their beliefs and follow a new path.

I think the fact that Jesus actually existed is a well-accepted historical fact. It's who & what he was that causes all the controversy. I'm agnostic and I've read the Bible several times, there's a lot of good stuff in there.

(And there's that hat again....)
