I pray all the time that Christians will wake up and realize that they believe in a ridiculous fairy tale, but it just doesn't seem to be working.....

I Am Still Here - Oh, was that Jesus? I thought it was a mugger. Now I'm really sorry I shot him....

To everyone who answered in the "Prayers do get answered - you just don't always get what you want" vein....That's not called answered prayers. That's just "stuff that happened". In life good stuff happens, and bad stuff happens. Not just to Christians, but to everyone. When something good happens, Christians pretend God answered a prayer. When something bad happens, they either don't mention God, or pretend he works in "mysterious ways". Wrong. It was just stuff that happened. Case in point: There was a lady in Atlanta kidnapped by a killer. She showed him the "Purpose-Driven Life". He let her go and surrendered. My Christian friend said "See, this proves there is a God". I responded: "What about all the people at gunpoint, who prayer to God, begging for his help (which I imagine is most people at gunpoint), yet still wind up shot and killed. My friend, of course, had no response. He wasn't offering me proof of God. He was just telling me about some STUFF THAT HAPPENED. Get a clue.

Beach bunny - I'm clearly an atheist. Good to see the critical thinking skills that led you to Christianity are as sharp as ever.

Babynam - Thank you for your kind Christian words. I love when Christians drop the f-bomb. It makes their belief seem so much more convincing. As for man's origins - he evolved from monkeys. Scientific fact. You probably meant to ask "how did life originate?". No one knows for sure. I'd suggest reading the "The Blind Watchmaker" for several interesting theories, though.

sweetblondnperky - you just hit the nail on the head....the nail that shows how ridiculous you are. You state that God has a scheme. Then you imply that some prayers fit into his scheme and some don't. Therefore, prayer itself is fundamentally useless. The scheme will unfold with or without the prayers...Or are you so conceited that you think you can actually change God's scheme? Do you think God says "Hmmm, I was going to do this, but since PrettyBlondnPerky prayed, I'm going to do something else instead. I guess I'm not omnipotent after all."? Of course, since there is no God, it's all nonsense, but I just wanted to point out HOW INSANE religion makes you sound.

It works. You are angry and bitter and hurt and you are need to know it isn't what you are praying for it is how you are praying. If you aren't praying in faith and thanksgiving that is a problem because it shows more selfishness than concern and heart felt in the need or request. Not all prayers go unheard- its just that things will happen in God's timing not yours. And sometimes the prayer just don't fit into God's scheme of things for His plan in your life. And mark my words sooner or later you are going to have and encounter that will change everything you are thinking now.

Why would you be praying if you believe it's a fairy tale? Prayer does work. I pray that people will realize the truth of God and His word all the time, and more people accept Him everyday. Sorry if it's not working for you. Don't mock God and maybe it will.

I believe prayer works. You need to have faith. When you pray for something it might not happen immediately because maybe God has some other plan for us. Heres an example, If you pray for that job who badly want and you don't get it don't be angry with God he has another plan for you and maybe the job was not right for you and another one is.

hahaahah! great!! I little arrogant and desrespectful... but great!! i also cant believe how blind can anyone be because of religion stuff!

I'm not atheist, but i dont believe on those fairy tales so blindly. If God exists? Who will ever know? i only believe he exists because it makes me feel more comfortable on certain situations. I think there are 2 possibilities:
1- IF he exists, he wont mind that i dont believe on him (if he wanted me to believe, he would let me know)
2- IF he doesnt exist, then there is no problem because the fact that i believed helped me, so even if he doesnt exist, i'm on profit.

Just keep praying. By many estimates, Paganism is the fastest growing religion in the United States.

Keep the faith. The tide will turn eventually.

It depends on what you pray for... Personally, I would pray for the understanding required to not feel the need to egg people on who believe differently than I on the internet. Of course, I may have to do a little work on myself in conjunction with that.

Because it doesn't affect the outward circumstances. It may help change a person's own attitude when the vocalize their issues in prayer or to a councellor or something, but it has no effect in the outside world at all.

IF you have your bible near, read Matthew 6:5-14,it will explain about prayer..you have to have faith if you don't and you are just praying when you think you need GODS help,it is not going to work.

How do these people know that whatever it was they prayed for wouldn't have happened anyway, even without the prayer?

And what about prayers that aren't answered? What happened then?
