I recently got an invitation from a former classmate inviting me to attend our forthcoming class reunion. I haven't seen them for ages. But I actually see no reason why I should go. I have outgrown them, and my life if very different now.
BTW, I did go to a reunion once some 10 years ago. And all they talked about then was their newly-acquired material wealth and position. It was so sickening listening to all those people continuously bragging about their "perfect" lives.

As you get older you may be more inclined to go to those events and enjoy them more. You may want to make connections with your past. You will get to see the changes that have happened in their lives and share what has happened in yours. And you will find that there are people missing, not because they chose not to come but because they are too sick to be there or because they have already passed away.

You also get to look around and think, "My goodness, these people look old! I've aged much better than them!!"

A re-union establishes rapport with persons you have had fond times with and wish to reminisce about old times.
