Heterosexual people defend homosexual marriage because it's the morally correct thing to do. It's immoral to deny another adult a right that you yourself enjoy. Besides, if marriage is such a great thing, as GWB and others like to point out, then why on Earth wouldn't they want more of it? It doesn't even make sense.

I defend homosexual marriages because it's the right thing to do. They say it's a sin: Fine but you can't put religion into the law. Only the ceremony can be religious, the legal act of marriage has nothing to do with religion. We cannot deny a group of people the right to make legally binding contracts. They gay marriages would belittle the sanctity of marriage: Really? If gay marriages are currently illegal yet half of all marriages end in divorce, who's fault is that? we can't blame that on gays. The fact is they are human, they're together now as they've always been and they will continue to live their lives as they choose to no matter what we say so why fight them?
To Mikek60- What about all the single parents? Are you saying that they are unfit to have children as well? Men are perfectly capable of raising a child as are women. All it takes is to be loving and responsible. You need to move out of your cave and join the world where women and men are equal, and do not have to confined to gender stereotypes.

Some fundamental concepts that should NOT be trampled, -are as follows.
1. Nobody has a 'right' to get married to whomever they choose. You don't have a 'right' to marry your own biological offspring, your cousin or someone under age. You go down to the courthouse and get a marrriage license, just like the lawyers get a license to practice law. This license is offical state recognition of your status.
2. The gay agenda is not to "defend the 'right' of two people to marry", -but rather an attack on the normal definitons that have faciliated productive societies for thousands of years.
3. Marriage and it's sanctity has a direct relationship on raising kids. -and that's what the homo-x's are really after. I can never achieve the other perspective of the opposite gender, - and in fact, men ARE from Mars and women from Venus. So how can you truly raise a child without the multiple view points that only a man and woman can provide?
If marriage was just a piece of paper between any two people, - they you're right, - who cares if you marry your dead hampster. But if it's more the way I described above, -then the current definition of marriage should stand.

In response to single mothers as being "un-fit", let me say this.
a. Single mothers WANT to find a male influence on their life, persistant and someone the child can relate to (ie 'father')
b. We (society) want kids to be raised healthy. If their not, we can't spend enough govn't money in social programs to make that kid 'normal' again.
We, with social policies, should encouage what's best for marriage and kdis, and dis-courage, less profitable actions like single parenting, and homo-adoptions / pseudo-marriage.

Once I heard a quote from a book (not sure which one, could have been Harry Potter) about a wacky dude with magic powers who said something like:
"Be to others who you like them to be to you"
Many people try to follow this moral. Heterosexual people defend the homosexuals right to marry because if the homosexuals were the ones who got to decide who could marry who, the heterosexuals would like the homosexuals to approve of them marrying each other.
Phew, got a little bit lost in that last sentence, hope I made myself somewhat understandable.

More power to ya, as another heterosexual who believes in the obvious rightness of gay marriage.
Thing is, if you step away from all the palaver of 'sin', then there's not a darned scrap of logic to say 'heterosexual marriage is fab and groovy, but homosexual marriage is not.' Makes no sense. But many people who believe in the concept of sin also, oddly enough, seem to believe that if you support a thing it has to have personal relevance to you, and that to support what they define as sinners means you must be a sinner too. Curious argument, really, especially from Christians, whose Christ consorted with people considered sinners, without being one himself, but there it is.
Sheeple...good word...like it. may steal it from time to time if that's ok?

Homosexuality is an inherited defect. By making it socially unacceptable, homosexuals are forced to marry the opposite sex and have children, thus breeding children with the tendency to be homosexual. If homosexual marriage is allowed, homos marry their own and no children result. Let them marry.

i don't see how a person's sexual orientation should matter when it comes to love, marriage and kids. to be honest, there are some straight people who shouldn't be allowed to have or adopt kids. i'm straight, but i think that people have a right to love who they wanna love and marry who they love regardless of gender.
