In what sense do you mean by the word "fashion?" However, being a Catholic is knowing the fullness of Truth given by Jesus Christ through His church, which is the Catholic Church, whether the gospel was revealed by mouth, through traditons, or by writing. According to the Bible, 2 Thessalonians 2:15, "Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle." It was never meant to be a "fashion" but a witness to the "fullness" of Truth. And the Catholic Church have always defended herself from heresies for 2,000 years of history. Jesus said, "...and not even the gates of hell will prevail against it (Matthew 16:18)."
St. Augustine said:
This same is the holy Church, the one Church, the true Church, the catholic Church, fighting against all heresies: fight, it can; be fought down, it connot. As for heresies, they all went out of it, like unprofitable branches pruned from the vine: but itself abides in its root, in its Vine, in its charity. (On the Creed: A sermon to the Catechumens, 1:6 ML 40, 635 NPNF III, 374)
So to answer your question, "is being catholic still a fashion?" If you're simply referring to the word "fashion" as simply just for show and no truth behind it, or if you're making the assumption that the church is simply "old fashion" and is outdated by modern secular society, the answer is NO. Jesus did not say He will build churches but He did built only ONE "church" (notice that its not plural), and its been through the test of time and it will continue to endure till His 2nd coming.

small c: catholic simply means universal, global;
so yes, being 'catholic' is increasingly a fashion,
(the new put on, after the old put off is put away)
among those who think & are globe-ally grace us.
As for Roman Catholic, such "Law Law" is
old, faulty, "ready to vanish" & "shall vanish".
(Mt 22:36-40; Hebrews 8:13; 1Cor 13:8)
The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

I think that "fashion" is not the correct term that you should be referring to, but instead "cultural shift". As fashions tend to change rapidly, which is not the case for religions.
But if you still choose to use this term, then yes I do.
