3 days ago i was walking my patterdale puppy through my local park at 7.30am and my dog found a baby crow which couldn't fly. There was two grown up crows now flapping round us making lots of noise and then dive bombed my dog. i shouted at my dog to lay down and he did and i put him on a lead and walked him away from the baby bird. but then one of the crows followed me and my pup all the way out of the park, crow was swooping down and skimmin past my dogs butt by centimetres, this was quite spooky and it remineded me of the horror film the birds. since this day every time we go to the park as soon as i walk through the gates with my dog we are followed by the crow which continues to dive bomb my dog and swoops from tree to tree as i pass by..... this is freaking me out abit.

Sorry, but the answer is yes. Crows and seagulls do this.
They now see you as a threat to their young, and as long as they are nesting and looking after their young they'll continue to dive at you, the really bad news is that all other crows in the area recognise this signal as "enemy of crow" and they'll start doing it too. Whatever you do, never carry anything thats black or flapping when you're in the park. They'll think you have picked up a crow and the attack will be worse.
They recognise you by your general outline and shape, and by your facial features in the same way that your dog recognises you, or you can tell the difference between a friend or a stranger from a distance. And they'll also recognise your dog.
You could try changing your appearance, but it would have to be drastic to fool them. For example, if you wear your hair loose you could try putting it in a ponytail and wear a hat and sunglasses. You could also try putting a coat on your dog but its not much fun for him in this weather.
Its probably best to avoid the park for a while. Carry an open umbrella, they won't like that. But it won't really help your dog much.

I would have to think they can recognize people. Our local pair drop the bird feed from the bird feeder down to the ducks which cannot get up there. They recognize voices also. They're not scared of mine but they are of the neighbor since they do not know him. They'll probably give up chasing in a while unless their baby died and that would have them holding a grudge. I'm not sure if they do that. Offer them some bread to show that your not all that bad. Like a peace gesture.

Yes, i think so. They have been known to use reason.

Saw a documentary on them a few months ago. A crow had learned to make a "tool" by bending a piece of wire to get some fruit out of a glass tube.

Very clever animals, i think.

Could be. I'd stay away from the park for a couple of days, at least.

yes the bird remembers that "dog thing' was a danger to its young ..so now it will bomb all "dog things" to keep them away
