If he's seriously constipated, take him to the vet of course, but if he's just having a little trouble going, I second the suggestion for canned pumpkin. Be sure to use straight canned pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling -- you don't want the extra sweeters and spices. Pumpkin is nature's Metamucil.

The best remedy that works is pouring some cooking oil over the puppies food, it should sort the constipation out

You shouldn't use any kind of friggin home remedy until you have taken your pup to the vet, got him examined, treated and then sought professional advice about home remedies.
Constipation can be a symptom of something more sinister and you would be an irresponsible pet owner to not get your pup properly and professionally examined. At the very least call your vet for advice!!!!!

You shouldn't. Constipation is a symptom, not the problem. You will probably need a vet to find the problem. It could be infected or impacted anal glands. It could be an obstruction, it could be something else. To give a laxative without knowing the problem could be dangerous to your pup.

Do NOT give him an ennema or human medications!!!!
buy some canned pumpkin and mix a tablespoon full in with his food every day until the pumpkin is gone.
The fiber will help get him cleared out. Oh, and this also works for diareaha

Go to your local pharmacist and ask for what they give to babies. There is a parafin oil called Nujol (in Europe) and there are some parafin suppositories for babies. If the problem last for more than 1-2 days you must see a vet immediately.

If he were an adult dog I would suggest 1/2 of a stool softener. My vet recommended this for my dog. However, since he's a puppy you should take him to the vet. Besides, he may need his anal glands emptied.
