I think you had better move. Your landlord made very clear what he considers okay for you to do/have and what not, and obviously you have a problem with all of his rules - so I would move to a place more lenient.
If you can't do that for financial reasons - then buckle down and follow the rules, while you save up to get the money to move, before he gets tired of you and your friends and boots you out. Without a lease, he is not required to give you any notice if he is unhappy with you - on the other hand without a lease you are also not required to stick it out in fear of financial liability or punishment - so move!
In regards of the pups - check with the animal shelter, local animal control, put a lost ad in the newspaper or put up fliers. If your dog simply upped and dissappeared on you, you obviously were not paying attention to them when they were outside in the first place. I can see where that could be annoying for an uptight landlord if the pups are allover the place and crapping into his flowergarden or patio.
If I was you I'd move before I get kicked out [remember other rental places may ask for references and you'll not get a good one from this guy anyway], and then lear to respect other ppls rules and privacy. Good luck finding your pup.

Your land lord sounds like a male b****, but remain calm. Like you said, getting evicted will not help. Talk to a lawyer. See if you can get proof of him threatening you and/or your dog. Check the local animal shelter. If you had an ID chip implanted in your dog, ask them to scan any dogs that they find that match a description. Put up fliers. Post an add in the paper. Your landlord does not have the right to treat you like this, and if you do nothing then this treatment will only continue.

If your lease has a "no pets" clause, then you are going to be evicted. If pets are allowed, but your dog is a nuisance to your neighbors, you could also be evicted. If your dog disappeared from inside your apartment which he has access to, you might have a legal case against your landlord. If the dog was outside, anyone could have taken him - many dogs are stolen every year. Without witnesses, you're going to have a hard time proving anything.

Well when you first moved in, was the dog allowed...if he was then you have a case if you can prove that he had something to do with it. If he wasn't then...life goes on.

well, for me it is possible that your landlord stole it because in this days people are hard to trust. try to investigate him in a simple way that he would not notice you sneaking on him.

Talk to a lawyer. You have rights, and your landlord is violating them.
