Is there official weights on a chart that say someone is heavy, obese, fat etc ??? When are we allowed to say someone is FAT?
I need the information for my new website about the FAT TAX
www.fattax.bravehost.com
At some point we are allowed to call someone obese but I would not do it without something official to back me up.

For those of you with a normal answer thanks a lot that 20% thing is interesting.
Those of you who cant handle the fact that if your overweight you have to be called SOMETHING (How else could we describe it) your obviously protecting yourself.

Theres nothing wrong with that question. Its just like saying WHEN can we call someone anorexic. WHEN can we say someone is an alcoholic. WHEN is that person at that stage they are those things.
I dont apologise because these are realitys of life and they must be discussed. Those of you who cant handle discussing it are only putting strength into the idea that they are bad things. That fat itself is a bad thing. I never said that because thats exacltly what society does and thats exactly what depresses people.

A person has traditionally been considered to be obese if they are more than 20 percent over their ideal weight. That ideal weight must take into account the person's height, age, sex, and build.
Obesity is often multifactorial, based on both genetic and behavioral factors.

I bet the only ones who are upset about your question are the ones who are fat. You can call me boney. Don't care. Call me flat-had big boobs while I was pregnant and I'd rather not have them.
EDIT: I see exactly where Zypher is coming from. Obesity is a HUGE problem in society nowadays. Something has to be done about it. Tiptoeing around people with serious weight problems and telling them it's OK to be fat isn't going to do anything because it ISN'T okay to be obese. If everyone would stop worrying about being PC maybe something would get done!!
PS I like the site!

every gp has a chart that tells them what weight a person should be for their height. I f someones overweight, it's insulting to tell them..., if they're obese it's deadly to not.

I guess you can call someone obese/fat when we can call you ignorant. Why would you want to PLAN to hurt someone's feelings? You should be ashamed of yourself.
