Is James Brown suggesting a link between the human soul and the propensity towards evil? Could he be suggesting that all humans having souls are not only bad but are, in fact, 'super bad'?

hmmm, a 100,000 word thesis on the abstract thinking behind the Godfather of Soul, the Minister of The New Super-Heavy Funk, Mr. Dynamite, Soul Brother Number One, Universal James - now that sounds like a good way to spend a weekend. Let us not forget that Papa not only got a brand new bag, but Papa got a bag of his own. Santa Claus is _definitely_ here to stay, man. The implications? Does Brown see himself as not only super-bad with soul, but also a modern Santa, passing out brightly-wrapped packages of funk to only those that are bad? "Get up, get into it, get involved", says Universal James, "Papa don't take no mess" , and neither should we. Because in a man's, man's, man' s world, Talking loud and saying nothing can give one plenty of Soul power and help one Get on the good foot,. So Give it up or turnit a loose and Get up offa that thing ‘cos I can't stand myself (when you touch me). Ain't It Funky Now.

This is all coming together for me now. And then he says "Hit me!!!" What I think Mr. Brown was trying to communicate was that his soul was possessed by evil and he wanted to someone to exorcise or "hit" the demon out of him.
