I just caught him peeing in the corner of the utility closet RIGHT NEXT TO his litter box. I said 'NO!",scruffed him and put him in the box, then covered the corner with fabreeze and baking soda. when i go out later today i plan on getting some of that pet stuff that cleans pee, but will that make him stop using the corner?

why would he do it in the first place? The box wasnt that dirty. And it looks like hes been doing it for awhile.

Are there any better cleaning ideas? Its a tile floor with a mat on it, the mat and the floor both are brownish yellow and covered in some kind of solid (i guess dirt mixed with urine?) im completely disgusted, what do I do?

He's only 2 years old and in great shape, why would he spray?

Male cats spray because they are marking their territory, and indicating the urge for sexual activity.

Unless you intend to breed Pure Bred cats, you must have this buy neutered or the spraying won't stop.

If you do intend to breed, confine him to an area away from female cats and other males.

Remove the smell of the spray with vinegar to neutralize the spot, and then douse it with OUT! cat urine and spray odor remover or Nature's Miracle. Follow the direction on the label TO A T, or it will not do it's job.

I just heard yesterday that hair dye neutralizer is great for getting rid of the cat smell. Put a protective guard against both walls of the corner and put the litterbox in the corner. Our cat claimed a 2-3 ft. spot in the flower garden for his outside bathroom. I tried planting something in there 3 times and he just gets rid of the plant. Then I had a real evil idea and thought about planting thistles :) but I just gave in. He doesn't go anywhere else. He won.

Male cats do that to mark their territory. Unfortunately, the only way I know to stop it is to have him spade (which should be done anyway) and even that is not a guarantee. It did work with my cat and he is now 5 years old. Good luck getting rid of the smell, it's nasty!
