Well your working out your leg muscles and all of that. So I do believe so. It def. keeps you in shape if you do it all the time. I ride my bike all summer long and I feel great afterwards! So yeah you can def. loose weight from it... but you gotta make sure your legs start to hurt and feel that pain to know it's working, lol!

Like other exercises relating to cardiovascular health, you should be shooting for bike rides that last at least 30 minutes and raise your heart rate enough to benefit most from the workout.

Firstly, the bike is very efficient which means that it doesn't require much expenditure of energy to make it go, so it isn't necessarily good exercise. But it can be.
Secondly.....it's "lose". With one "o". Not loose.

Sure does as long as it is regular any excersize will do that, the more you do the fitter you will become and a good balanced diet will make it happen even faster and make you healthier....have a nice day
