When any christian guy/girl die they say "ashes 2 ashes and dust 2 dust"what do they mean by that?

God Created Adam from ashes and dust and when we die we are returned to ashes and dust.

It means the body returns to that which it was created. The Lord created Adam out of the earth. The earth was thought to have been from ashes and dust (and in a way, it is). So when we die, we came from ashes we return to ashes, we came from dust we return to dust. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. (I prefer ashes though).

It means that we came from the Earth (God made Adam from clay), and that in death we are just returning to the Earth.
