I've seen it on TV once, but I forgot. It had something to do with string. Do you guys have any different suggestion? Aslong as it doesnt involve closing or opening a door.

Training Training Training
It takes alot of work. You will have to put up a boundry of some type like a string or baby gate or something.
Everytime the dog comes up to in have them sit you cross the barrier and do not let them. If you catch them across the barrier take them to the other side and tell them no have them sit at the line and stay.
Mine do not come on the carpet in teh living room unless aksed to do so. But I keep a baby gate up.

You can do training and correcting the dog but he will never be 100% reliable not to go into this room especially when you are not around. You can put mouse traps on the floor to keep the dog out in the begining. go to the dollar store and get some cheap ones. They will snap when the dog steps on them but are very weak and will not hurt the dog in any way. The snap will startle the dog. Eventually reduce the number of traps to less and less eventually removing all the traps.

You don't need a boundry but you do need training. Training discs work brilliantly if you do it right. They are available at most pet shops.
