They can be removed but the eyesight will not go back to normal.

Ask your vet to recommend a specialist and get a second opinion as well.

The surgery is expensive. Since the surgery may not improve your dog's life, you may want to reconsider spending the money for an elective surgery.

Take a look at the link below for a description of the surgery and the results you can expect.

Make an appointment with your vet and have him/her check it out. Some can be operated/removed with good results, others are inoperable or not adviseable due to the age, health or condition of your dog. If your vet does not do this type of surgery as this, ask for a referal to a vet who does. Good luck with your dog!

I had my dogs cateracts removed from both eyes a few years ago and artificial lenses put in. My dog was 80% blind in one eye and 50% blind in the other. You will need to go to a vet that specializes in this type of operation

They can be removed but you will need to find an eye specialist.
I havea dog who has them in both eyes but he had been blind for years before those. He had progressive retnial atrophy.
He still hunts and gets around great. He is a great dog and has a god life even though he can not see it.
