Whats the difference between Quran Kuran and Koran. What is spelling should an American use?

And please tell me why and be smart about it, cause the one that makes the most sense I'm going to use from now on, and when people ask me why I use it I am going to wanna sound smart for why I am using that spelling and not their inferior spelling.

I spell it Quran for 2 reasons. First that is how it is spelled on the front of my copy and second because that is how my Muslim friends spell it when we talk. Also one of my friends name is Qaisar but he will sometimes spell it with a K like Kaisar. I know this isn't the really smart answer you wanted but it is the real reason I spell it that way. I haven't seen anyone use the Kuran version. I think it is cool that you are asking this. Always learning and growing. I find it interesting that spell check doesn't seem to like my spelling of the word and yet like I said it is a well used version. Spell Check is biased.

The Qur'an, also spelled Koran or Quran forms the basis of Islamic teachings. It translates to "The Recitation" or "The Reading." As a Muslims we prefer to spell it The Holy Quran.

Qur'aan because that's closer to the arabic pronounciation. Koran is english equivalent but it doesn't really sound right.

I don't know arabic but from searching "holy book of Islam" on the web it seems "Qur'an" is the correct transliteration, but the more common usage is "Koran"
