I listened to an astro-physicist, I think that is his expertise, say they have calculated that all the matter was necessary for the minerals and gases or elements to exist.

Psa.8:3 When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained;

Psa.19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork. Psa.19:2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. Psa.19:3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Psa.19:4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

Psa.33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.

Isa.40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold Who hath created these things, That bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one faileth.

Jer.10:12 He hath made the earth by His power, He hath established the world by His wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by His discretion.

John 1:3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.

Rom.1:20 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

I Cor.8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of Whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom are all things, and we by Him.

Col.1:16 For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: Col.1:17 And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.

Rev.4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.

For the glory and power of God. To hold it all together. God created the Heavens... A place to dwell, often Heaven the abode of God, the angels, and the souls of those who are granted salvation.
Any of the places in or beyond the sky conceived of as domains of divine beings in various religions.
The sky or universe as seen from the earth; the firmament. Often used in the plural.
Try reading the Bible. The Bible will tell you all you need to know...

I'm no astrophysicist but I understand magnetic gravitational forces have something to do with it. In other words, we wouldn't be able to spin around the Sun at exactly the distance we do if the other planets weren't spinning in perfect harmony around us.

If another planet, say Venus, were hit with a major meteor that knocked it out of orbit, our own orbit would change as well.

If by God you mean the one that religions introduce to us such as Jesus or Allah, then there is no reason for him to create such great universe since all he cares about is what happens on earth. But the fact is there is no God in a sense that religions introduce to us. Universe is infinite and there are bilions of planets on it amongst which earth is only one insignificant one.

[16] And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders.

[17] And We have guarded it (near heaven) from every outcast Shaitân (devil).

Quran ch25
[61] Blessed is He Who has placed in the heaven big stars, and has placed therein a great lamp (sun), and a moon giving light.

I've actually asked this question. The answers you'll probably get revolve around "giving us something to study", "so there's pretty things to look at in the sky!". You know, the usual crap.

Btw, when you see "MainWorry", just keep scrolling down. It may take a while, but you'll get there. This goes for all of his postings!
Whew!

What ever answer we come up with would only be theory. Why don't you offer your theory.
After 10 or 15 years it becomes ingrained in our heads as fact, like evolution.
