Sperm are living cells. They remain healthy within a small range of temperature, moisture, molarity (content of salt and other chemicals in the moisture) and acidity. Sperm which have become totally dry, which have become immeshed into fabric, which have been exposed to destructive forces such as the enzymes in saliva, the heat, soapiness, or lack of balanced salt content in bathwater are unlikely to survive (continue to swim) for longer than minutes.
: Pregnancy can occur without intercourse if sperm-rich ejaculate in deposited near the entrance to the vagina: this is a poor way to become pregnant but it has happened.

Sperm are alive and active as long as they are wet. If the area if moist and damp the sperm can live 48-72 hours. Inside the body the sperm are alive for much longer and are therefore viable for a longer duration. Once the sperm becomes dry it is safe to say that they are no longer living. Sperm are very determined little creatures. Active sperm placed near the vagina can find their way into the body to fertilize the ovum. Pregnancy can and does happen this way.
Semen dries up when it is exposed to air. As it does, the sperm will be neutralized and die. Washing your hands with soap and water will also get rid of the active sperm. This would be a good practice to get into if you and your partner are going to engage in digital stimulation (fingering). Hand washing also helps prevent the spread of bacteria and other germs.

sperm cant live on a persons fingers because once the salt from your finger makes contact with the sperm it kills the sperm and air also plays a part in the break down of sperm. if a male ejaculates inside of you it can survive for 72 hours

I depends what you do with your fingers...if you keep them still, it will be alive until all liquids evaporate...if you wash, well you know the answer...but as long it is kept in liquid form, it can live up to 24 hours.
