I've been invited to a lake side wedding in a week. I'm not sure on how to handle going dateless. I am 34, single, overweight, and going with my mother, step-father, and my 2 daughters.

Well then you're not going ALONE; are you?

There is nothing to handle. Just go. Remember the wedding is not about you. Who knows, there may be single guy there that may not be worrying about going without a date. Being overweight should not be an issue. Some men prefer confident women with meat on their bones than skinney toothpicks that only look that way because they think that everyone wants them to look that way. Go an flirt a little.

You have a date. You have your daughters. My mom went to weddings without formal dates all the time. I was her date. Really make a fuss out of going to this ordeal with them. Use it as an excuse to go shopping if that is possible. Make it a ladies spa day before the wedding. Just you and your daughters. Leave early and take the scenic route. Dump the traditional ideas of what is supposed to happen and embrace your life as it is.

Why don't you see the positive side? You can go there with your family, you will wear a really nice dress, you will have an an impressive make-up and...........................you will meet there the guy of your dreams! It's quite easy to meet people in a wedding, trust me! Just think positive and be yourself!

Just go with your family and enjoy yourself. Have a couple of drinks, relax and enjoy seeing old family and friends. Don't stress over it. Just look at it as a chance to get out for a little bit.

Starts with Loving who you are...
Not about having a date.
One does not need another to make them valuable or whole..
The issue is with your perception of yourself..
The people at the wedding don't really care if you have a date or not

Treat as a lovely get together with your family rather than a date. Less pressure on you. Enjoy the day!

Just go and have fun. Don't worry about not having a date. Who said you had to? Mingle and enjoy yourself. At least you won't have to worry about someone else that day and can do what you want.

There's no "rule book" stating you have to go to a wedding with a date.
Besides, you're going with your family. Make it a "family" related event.
Just act as yourself and relax. You're fine.

Just enjoy the day!!! It's about the bride & groom, not you. No one else there, but you, will be worried that you didn't bring a date!!!!!! Chill out, relax & enjoy your friend's wedding.
