could be a couple of things, the alternator or bad spark plugs or leads. is it auto or manual.? if auto its electrical.

So many cars. So many different systems. So many characteristics / common problems. What year, make, model, and engine vehicle are you asking about? If you want accurate diagnosis over the internet, you need to provide as much info. as possible. The more we have to work with, the easier things become....sometimes.

Take it to a mechanic asap. Could be the timing,. fuel pump, etc. Be careful,and good luck.

try the idle air control valve.
