we are always reassured that god made us in his image.

however, god is a father.

so why aren't there only fathers?

why are there women too?

does this mean that mothers should try to be like fathers?

women like men?

girls like boys?

goddess like god?

is that why the goddess has disappeared from legitimate religious experience? is that why women are afforded no positions of power in the church?

if god, 'the father', made us in His image, then why are there men and women, and not only men?

Silly boy. God said "let Us make them in Our image". God is a duality of both male and female (a triality if you'd like to include neuter) Many think of God solely as Male because we've had a Patriarchal religion in control of the ruling countries of the world for the last 4,000 years. The Goddess isn't gone. Mother Mary took her place in the Catholic church and the Neo-Pagans are doing their best to bring many other forms of the Feminine God back. Patriarchy and "original sin" are the reason women have had no positions of power. Once we conquer the ignorance in that we'll be well on our way to a more equalized faith. Good luck. Good question by the way. :)

Who says that god is a father? God is a concept made by men. The concept is also used to oppress women.
The idea that the woman was created out of Adam's ribs is only showing this oppression. Men have always felt threatened by the fact that it is the woman who gives life.
In the past many cultures had a womans image of god. That was also a human concept.

In the book of genesis,Eve was taking out of the side of Adam. GOD called womb -man which means a woman with a womb. Women are here as help mates. Women are also here to birth children. Mothers are this earth are having to be Fathers because of death beat Dads! Women are having to be like men to provide for their homes where some men won't work. Goddess is for myths and fairy tales unless she is called that in her home by her Spouse. Women in church do have authority and have biblically given power.Women are the majority in the church. The church cannot function without a woman. Women are called to minister, teach, prophesied and support. A woman's hair is man's glory.

God took a rib from Adam and from the that He created women. We are all made in the likeness of God. God has no sex. He is too amazing for the human mind to comprehend. Just know that we were all made in the image of God.

Man and woman are complimentory to each other. In the site of Our Creator He has given them a Spirit and life.
Women was made to be a help to men and Humans cannot exist without Women. So man ad women were created with a purpose.Hence in His sight they are One.

Women were NOT made in the image of God. They were created BY God FOR MAN.

In Genesis it says that God looked down on Adam and said "It is not good for man to be alone" (probably because he realized how gross we were without someone to bring us down to earth)

"God created a help meet for him" (it actually says help MEET).

Apparently you think God is some white-haired man walking around in flowing robes. Our spirits are the image that reflect God, not mortal flesh. Our spiritual being transcends gender.

God does not have a specific gender. Made in God's image refers to our souls since God is spirit.

God has no gender. The term father was only used to indicate the type of relationship that we have with Him. If you are more comfortable use the term Mother. However, it seems impersonal to call him IT.

Man made in the image of God means that we are able to show Gods qualities- like love , wisdom etc, it does not mean we literally look like him.
