I don't understand not allowing the Muslim women into the Mosque. This obviously means their souls are not as important as those of the men. Surely God doesn't discriminate against the women. Was it Muhammad that made the rule against women to stay away from an ability to worship in Mosques?

I am a writer. I am writing a story that has a Muslim woman as the main female character. I have received conflicting stories about the subject from a friend in Iran and another in Pakistan.
The female in my story is strong willed and I am desirous for her to be like a hero. I have exchanged e-mails with several Muslim women. However, they are so sweet, kind, considerate, loyal, truthful, and inspiring, I am not sure I wish to ask them to be a model for my story, since I trust and respect them.
I mean no harm and am a man who believes God is all knowing. Since we sing praises to the same God, I desire Muslims to be portrayed in the brightest light possible in my story.

Actually, prophet Mohammed said "Do not prevent women from going to the mosques." The only difference between men and women in this respect is that women are not required, as men are, to pray in the mosques. Can you imagine how unjust this would be for women? With kids to drag with them every time, it would be a real hassle for everyone involved. So the decision is up to her.

Women pray behind men because of the physical nature of the prayer; would you want your wife, sister, or daughter bent over in front of a crowd of men?

My dear Akeem- your question seems so vehement!!! - as if you are looking for an argument. Calm down.

Firstly women are not forbidden from going to mosque - that is an inaccuracy - you will see women are present for prayers in the Grand Mosque in Mecca and Medinah.

The only limitation that is placed on women to go to mosque is if there are no facilities to accomodate them - since it is not possible for the different sexes to stand next to each other in prayer, So if there is a building - double story - each sex a different storey.

The third - it is not proper for women to go alone to mosque without a chaperone- it could cause "fitnah" - negative and malicious accusations. In such a case if a women cannot be accompanied by a chaperone or other ladies - God allows that it it is better for her to pray at home.

On the other hand - men do not have that loophole - it is extremely strongly by Mugammad (SAW) recommended that they perform their prayers in congregation in a mosque.

Yes it seems you do not understand anything about Islam.
First, Women are allowed into Masjed for prayers.
Second, Number of women who into Masjed for prayer are very less, so the accommodation is smaller than the men's, but in way it is inferior.
Third, Women have the advantage from Allah, that their prayer at home equals the men's prayer at the Masjed. So they are not second class citizens, on the contrary, in this case they are the first class and it seems men are coming in the second class.

Go and read about Islam, and if you did , do not just go and mislead people.

Shafiq is showing the double standards employed by some people in Islam.

These seperate rooms where women pray are less well adorned and are much smaller than the mans, in order to show their substandard position to men. Only to their children do they have more rights, everything else the man has more rights hands down.

Why do men get twice as much inheritance?
Why is a mans word taken as 2 womens?

All religions usually stress one thing.........

for example ....christianity teaches love.....

and Islam teaches the idea of equality...............

there is no distinction between the priest and the follower.......every one is equal before god...it says......

also there are no idols are images to workship........there is the qoran in one corner.........and everyone regardless of social status...or priest or desciple stand in a line and pray to allah.......

One thing we have to learn from muslims ..........the one thing muslims are an example is "universal brotherhood"

The idea of equality is most pronounced in Muslims than people of any other religions...........

by now u must understand.......that its not true that women are not allowed in mosque.......

I am not a muslim........

Totally agree with Shafiq.

Also women get just as much reward praying in the house, Allah has so much love and respect for women they can pray without having to leave the house five times a day.
Thanks for reminding me what a beautiful religion Islam is.
