Taking your own tupperware containers full of tofu cumquat wraps to parties so you can decline the hospitality of your hosts can't be good for any environment.

Vegans rock!

It is those who always have to serve all of that meat crap that are lame. Gees, I can never find anything to eat when attending such occasions. Although there is always such lovely veggie trays! And cute little spinach wraps! Yum!

if someone has an allergy to wheat, or is lactose intolerant, does that make the person lame as well? any type of in-depth interest in what you're actually ingesting is now lame?

as a new vegan, i try to always have some munchies with me when i go out (like peanuts), so i won't be put in the situation of having to investigate every item on a menu in a strange restaurant. i make most of my own food, but i don't take meals to a party, i just eat at home before going to a party. if there's a veggie tray, i'll snack on that, and if there isn't, i just won't eat anything. no big deal.

A decent host would provide enough food for the vegan (as long as the vegan had the good manners to tell them what they do and don't eat). I wouldn't dream of inviting someone on a restricted diet to a party and then not feeding them. That's just rude!

They aren't lame and I know for fact that vegans doesn't lack any protein. Humans can survive without eating animal products.
Being vegan is very difficult and you have limited food choices. Not trying to be mean at all, but you can't call someone lame for being different. And to all you, the vegan way works!

Well, if the vegan you're talking about is what you say he/she is, then it's not a matter of his/her eating preferences but his/her manners. Not all vegans are "lame", as you put it, but at parties it is difficult for them to choose among the food that is laid out so they just wait until they get home to eat or they pick out the meat and eggs from their food.

Your vegan guest should at least not let anyone notice they are bringing their own food. It's their problem, anyway, not yours.

I am far from being vegetarians, but I turned down enough (disagreeable) food in my time. I do agree that at times, vegans are a bit overzealous as to bring their own food to a party.

Maybe it is a feeling of superiority? Or a testament of being unique, or politically correct, trust me, I've gotten enough lectures as to why you shouldn't eat meat. Maybe to persuade others to follow their example?

In the end, I think you are more offended by the etiquette of some vegans, of preferring a meal they made themselves than the one you painstakingly put together.

Just treat them like Jewish or Muslim friends that require certain diet.

They're lame because a person's sense of humor is directly related to how much animal protein they ingest. Ovo-lacto vegetarian are ok because they eat cheese, but poor vegans - they have no chance. They also have ugly skin. I can't explain that one, but they do. People on raw-food diets are even worse. I understand the reasoning behind vegetarianism & other self- or religion-imposed dietary restrictions, but veganism & raw-food is WEIRD!

I am speaking here for all vegans out there, OK lets start here first VEGANS are not hypocrites we are not rude we are lame we are not starving ourselves nor do we feel superior to those who are not vegans and for other people to say that are mean and have very low self esteem. WE don't look down on you so don't look down on us

We are not lame, you are just rude. In my experience people offer to prepare special food for parties etc. When I offer to make something they are relieved and I always take a dish everyone will enjoy. Think outside the square......

They want so bad to be different that all will notice. Don't hang out with them. If they do show up throw the tofu in their face, they will be too weak to do anything about it anyway.
